Goblin, please don't be insulted by Willows Mum, because I know she would never want to do that. If you are afraid of something it is natural not to want to go near it. I wouldn't in a house if there was a snake loose, because I am terrified of snakes, but I certainly do not mean anything against the persons home.

Seeing that I love black cats I am on my way.

I always tell people my black kitty is GOOD luck!

I'm not all that superstitous, but I do knock on wood, and I have thrown salt over my shoulder.

I would love to visit, my wife is Irish too
We both love coffee and since I am mostly English, I really enjoy a good strong cup of tea, both iced or hot. And the chicken soup sounds good too. If I lived in Arizona, we would be on our way over

As for the ghosts, yes, the cats do see things. One of my Pixie Bobs will sit and look at the wall and then chases something. In the mddle of winter, there are no insects flying around. Also, when My wife first moved in this house, she called me at work very early in the morning, around 3am. She said, "honey, I think there is someone in the house, I can hear someone walking in the living room"
Well, I had never told here about the other guests that live here, but I did then.

Like you, I believe in the supernatural and I believe that the cats see them - Peedoodle will sometimes chase something that I cannot see. The first time I ever saw one was when I was 10 and ever since, I have been sensitive to seeing them. They don't scare me anymore like they used to.

Living in the land of not enough time
I'll walk under ladders (did it about 3 dozen times last week...thats another story), love black cats, don't carry a rabbit foot. But bad luck comes in 3's, I knock wood for good luck, and I won't wear a prescious/smi prescious stone that isn't my birthstone without paying the giver somehow. Usually with a hug and kiss.

Speaking of when your nose itches...My Uncle Jack told me that when your nose itches someone's come to visit with a hole in their pants...of course Uncle Jack was always a little off.

I still knock on wood, say bless you when someone sneezes, and believe that bad luck somes in threes. (Also people die in threes, it's kind of spooky.)

I also believe firmly in ghosts, when I was a kid all kinds of freaky stuff happened in the house I grew up in. And yes cats and dogs both seem to see them well before the humans in the house do.

When we were children we used to play a game as we walked along the pavement trying not to stand on the 'nicks' and we would recite

Stand on a nick
You'll marry a brick
And a fool
Will come to your wedding.

Another one my mother told me is that if your foot itches you are going to walk on strange ground. It often itches but nothing exciting seems to happen, perhaps it is all going to happen at once.

I like to say I'm not superstitious, but I won't walk under ladders, and I sometimes will knock on wood lol, so I guess I sorta am!

I remember the house we lived in when I was younger had ghosts. I would hear voices and footsteps upstairs and my moms bobbin case fell all over the floor one day as she was walking downstairs. The dog would stand in the back of the basement and bark for hours at what seemed nothing. There were cold spots in the air in the attic and I remember getting a really panicky feeling and running back down. Doors would open and shut. My mom and dad both woke up at different times at night and saw a figure standing at the end of the bed and if she talks about it now, she gets goosebumps all over. They didn't tell each other till we moved out of the house. We called him George.

Personally,I love cats, all of them. Black cats are the same as any other cat. My friend has a black cat and she is one of the sweetest I have ever met! I hate that so many homeless blck cats don't find homes just because of superstation.

First off I would like to say........I would NEVER insult you because you have a certain way of thinking. Because your first line says just that. Good I'm glad you own black cats, But I personally don't feel comfortable with them. That is my choice, My opinion, and mine alone. It is something that has been with me since I was a child. (maybe because of always getting scratched by a neighborhood black cat, or maybe because I totaled my first car after ignoring the fact that a black cat crosses my path) But what ever the reason for my dislike/distrust of black cats is my choice and no need to disrespect someone for that choice. as you can tell I didn't make such rude comments to people who own them. that's a person's right to choose. so please don't insult someone for their thoughts on what ever situation is being discussed. I know there are other ways to tell someone you have a different veiw.

Willows Mom I am so sorry that you are feeling so hurt. I didn't imagine that would happen by starting this thread and I have tried to steer away from the black cats since that happened, like I said they are my very favourite animal but I do recognise that some people are very superstitious about them.I have had a black cat in my house for years and years, cannot imagine being without one. But that is our choice, you and me. Hope you are OK.

after further reading the thread, Like Cilla said no intention to insult anyone. I respect all people until they disrespect me. then they will get what they share in return. I was stating my beliefs and my thoughts plain and simple. If I did insult you it was by per accident. and I apologize for that. Just as your beliefs are due to your heritage as are my beliefs due to mine with a combonation of events stated in my pervious post. I have never had good luck around black cats. I also have no good luck what so ever with anything else. Some in this thread said they have a horse shoe hung above their door. Yeah I did too in my two presvious houses. I was evicted from both of them do to MAJOR bad luck. so when I moved into the home I am now living in that horse shoe stayed in the box I packed it in and sits in my storage unit across town. so far in my new home I haven't had any problems, no money problems no job problems and such things that caused me to lose my last two homes. Luck is something I lack so I try what I can to give me what little luck I can get. and avoid all chances of bad luck. once again I'm sorry if my beliefs insult yours. I had no intention of doing that.

I'm not hurt, just a little upset that someone could respond so rudely to my opinion. but after reading further I understand more of the reason behind the comment and have responded in the way I feel is correct.
