In the last 3 weeks or so, I've had more nosebleeds than I've had in the last 15 years. They seem to come on suddenly, and it's only the left side that bleeds. Could it be allergies to pets? ( I work as a groomer) I've never had pet-dander allergies before...

My mother suggested going back to my regular shampoo for a few weeks, see if that makes a difference (not so far).

Any ideas?

There are many things that can cause a nosebleed.

It sounds like that they have been occuring frequently recently. The best thing to do is to see a doctor about it.

It could be stress. My friend Shane gets nosebleeds when he is stressed. In fact, when we were in science class together in 9th grade (1991-1992 school year) he'd get BAD nosebleeds every time we took a test.

There are a lot of reasons for nosebleeds. Most are not serious, but one thing that should be checked out is high blood pressure. You can be young and in good shape and still have high blood pressure.
Nasal polyps are also a possibility (small growths) that are most likely non cancerous.
Blood clotting abnormalities, either brought on by disease, or medication--aspirin and other meds.
The dryness of the air and allergies too.
If your nose is bleeding that often I would suggest getting it checked out.
Good Luck!

When I was a kid, I got frequent, heavy nosebleeds. I'm not sure what the cause was but, my nose was cauterized, when I was 5. Haven't had a nosebleed, since and I've been punched in the nose - HARD. BTW: the cauterization didn't hurt.

I agree the doctor is a must. There are so many things that cause nosebleeds. Some are slight and some are not. A friend of mine was recently troubled in this way and it turned out to be stress, her father had just died and she had other things to cope with. That was six weeks ago, the doctor cleared it up with nose drops and medication. But high blood pressure is sometimes the cause.

I would get it checked by your family doctor but I sometimes get nosebleeds too, and usually it's cause of the heat or allergies because my bloodpressure is very normal.

I remember getting nosebleeds every summer from about the time I was 12 until about 15. I would get one almost every day and they were always early afternoon. They would get kind of bad. I remember sitting down watching tv and all of a sudden my nose would start pouring blood. When I went to the Doctor I found out I had low iron and was taking aspirin fairly regularly and it thins out your blood. (I still swear the weather played a part in it since it was always summertime). I get nosebleeds now maybe once or twice a year and it is when my iron gets low. I can tell the iron is low because my veins under my eyes get real dark and even the veins on my arm start showing really well. It would be a good idea to go to the doctor and have some tests run. It may be nothing, but better be safe than sorry.
