Two nights ago I had to take Donovan back to the vet
. (see previous occurance :http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/sho...hlight=Donovan )He got another blockage in his urinary tract, nothing was getting through. He's back home today, doing well (as far as we can tell). He has had an x-ray, and all seems clear. We are now putting him on wet food permenantly. Does anyone have any other suggestions? It's only been about 4 weeks since his last blockage, and he was still on the perscription diet (Hill's S/D) meant to dissolve any remaining crystals when he got re-blocked. He has no access to any other food sorces, and I supervise all feedings so he doesn't eat any other food. Any help would be appreciated, because I can't afford to many more of these vet visits!!

hi there,

i have three cats on hill's c/d dry. they eat mainly the dry (probably a 70/30, dry to canned) kibble because they are kibble-addicts. is your cat used to kibble all the time? because maybe he needs to have the hill's s/d kibble available as well as the canned, and phase in an all-canned. i have a few canned foods i rotate, my 3 guys think the hill's canned formulas taste yucky.

i am also a member of Cats With FLUTD on Yahoo! groups and that has been a big help for me.

i wish i could be more help. but only one of mine ever blocked and that was before i adopted him. my 2 littermate kitties get repeat stress UTIs(no blockages, no crystals in 4-5 years), although they've been more stable in the last 2 years than when they were younger. FLUTD is so different for each cat.

Yes he is. The vet has suggested keeping him on the dry for now (the S/D) until he is finised his Clavamox, and then going to the wet diet. A few people have been suggesting perineal urethrostomy, but I would like to think of that as a last resort. I will check out the group you mentioned. Thanks so much!
