I have noticed some members using only the 'quick reply' option. This automatically quotes the previous post, and is not always needed, especially in Caption This. To post a regular reply, without a quote, click on the little strange looking symbol at the top or the bottom of the thread. It looks to me like 2 people sharing a chair with a little red plus sign on it.

If you are using the vB3 default style, I believe it just says 'reply'.

Deb,

When using Quick Reply do you not have the option of checking or unchecking the "Quote message in reply?" box in the lower left-hand corner. E.g, I left it unchecked with this quick reply and there should be no quote.

Cheers,

James,

My options are a bit different on my desktop, which is an OS9 Mac. You could very well be right. I think the quote function is great, but sometimes it's overused, like when somebody quotes an extremely long post. Makes for a lot of scrolling, and I thought that maybe some didn't quite understand all the ins and outs of the new format. Thanks for the heads-up, though.

Almost every single one of my posts are using the quick reply button.

I click quick reply, and then I type my message, then I click post.

I haven't had any problems with it quoting things un-necessarily...
