Should I be concerned?

Well, Bella's been home for ten days now, we've finished her antibiotics and I believe that may have been the source of the diarrhea - she's had solid poops now for a full day!!! Her appetite is great, she's drinking plenty of water, she's put on a little weight (her hip bones finally have a little padding on them ) and her coat has gotten noticeably shinier since she's been here.

I emptied the litter boxes last night about 9 (i have two, one upstairs where she was isolate and one downstairs in the bathroom) and before I left this morning, I emptied three big urine clumps and two poops out of the downstairs pan!!! Is this normal??? Am I just being a hypersensitive first-time parent again? I just thought this seemed like a lot for such a little cat! (she's only 5 lbs! well, maybe 5.5 now)

I'm certainly no expert, but it sounds fine to me. I usually empty the boxes before bedtime and again before I leave for work. I'm usually amazed that so much accumulates overnight--they seem to do the bulk of their eliminating during those hours. It's great that she's doing so well!

Sounds fine to me, too. Especially since you mentioned that her appetite is good and she's drinking plenty of water.

Thanks for the reassurance. You guys are the greatest! I guess it would make sense that they'd go more at night, since they're always up til all hours.

Honestly I don't know how my folks made it all those years before clumping litter came along!!! (oh wait, yeah I do, the house smelled funny. ) Other than the occasional smelly poop (gotta cut back on the canned food! ) my house doesn't even hint that there's a cat there.

Jcat, your siggy just kills me! I laugh every time I see it. Jamie looks SO surprised.

I scoop twice a day too.. but I have two cats. Each cat probly goes a couple times a day I wouldnt be worried, I'd be relieved!

you're right, Sicy, I'm very relieved especially that she has solid poops!!!!! I have no idea how long she'd had diarrhea at the shelter, but she's already so much healthier and happier. Thanks to all of you for listening to me overreact.

And Sicy, be sure to give Zoey and Saki some good scritches from me! =0D

He was! I sat on the steps for about 15 or 20 minutes with the camera ready to take that picture. Usually he runs when he sees the camera.
