Hi!

My cat's name is Mazzy Star. I adopted her from the Animal Shelter about 2 months ago. They don't really know how old she is, estimating between 1 1/2 and 2 years. So, we picked a birthday for her, St. Pat's and now she's officially 2 years old.

She is an incredible cat. Loving, affectionate. Everything I wanted in a cat.

What I am curious about is certain things she does that I am sure are positive signs of affections but have been unable to track down better "behavior definitions" online anywhere. Any ideas?

One of the things she does is when you pet her and are on the floor near hear, she will hold her tail high and straight with just a little curve at the top and then it quivers. All the while she's purring and "making dough" on the carpet. Why really does she do this?

the neading part is a similar reaction from when kittens were nursing. They would nead the teet in order to get milk. It's a comfort thing like people rocking to and fro. as for the high back and tail, they just love being petted there.

I concur...I believe she is allowing you to greet her...feline style. LOL. My female cat does that...plus..she copies her brother and backs up to items and swishes her tail as if she could spray...I don't think either of them realizes that they cannot "mark" anymore.

I knew that she was just
ing me up. I was just figuring the quivering tail might mean something extra special.

All in all, I finally remember after 15 years without a cat, why I loved having them so much when I was a kid. Cats are the best.

Thanks again!
