Theories Of Cat Behavior

LAW OF CAT INERTIA
A cat at rest will tend to remain at rest, unless acted upon by some outside force, such as the opening of cat food, or a nearby scurrying mouse.

LAW OF CAT MOTION
A cat will move in a straight line, unless there is a really good reason to change direction.

FIRST LAW OF CAT ENERGY CONSERVATION
Cats know that energy can neither be created nor destroyed and will, therefore, use as little energy as possible.

LAW OF BAG/BOX OCCUPANCY
All bags and boxes in a given room must contain a cat within the earliest possible nanosecond.

LAW OF FURNITURE REPLACEMENT
A cat's desire to scratch furniture is directly proportional to the cost of the furniture.

LAW OF CAT COMPOSITION
A cat is composed of Matter + Anti-matter + It Doesn't Matter.

LAW OF CAT OBEDIENCE
As yet undiscovered.

Those are so true!

Law of Investigation: All new objects in the house must be checked out, sniffed, and preferably chewed before getting the ok to stay.

isnt' there a law of human bothering too? meaning when there is a human hard at work in the house all cats must converge on said human and force attention away from the work needing to be done by any means possible!

or another one Cat chair dominance: Where if you're sitting in a chair that a cat wants to sit on, expect to be stepped on and sat on by said kitty until you either give in and let kitty stay on your lap(otherwise known as numbing your legs), or give up the chair.

LOL! I would add "Bathroom Etiquette": All humans desiring to use the bathroom must be accompanied by a cat. And the "Fuzzy Blanket Law": Any fuzzy blanket brought into the house belongs to the cat(s) only. Even if that means that one cat "owns" 10, and two humans "own" 0.

How about the paper law?

Any papers that the human is looking at must be sat upon forthwith. Bonus points for physically forcing your human to put down the newspaper or manuevering (sp?) oneself on top of important work!

Tigger always attempted to get under the paper I was reading on the floor.

Sam knows he cannot lay on my homework so instead he lays with the toes of his back feet touching the very edge of the paper or book and swishes his tail back and forth across the page I am looking at or writing on.
