Not too sure how true this is but it makes for some funny read.

“As I was telling my husb—†and then stopping herself abruptly, before saying, “As I was telling President Bush.â€

Political Conversation: Condiâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s Slip
A pressing issue of dinner-party etiquette is vexing Washington, according to a story now making the D.C. rounds: How should you react when your guest, in this case national-security adviser Condoleezza Rice, makes a poignant faux pas? At a recent dinner party hosted by New York Times D.C. bureau chief Philip Taubman and his wife, Times reporter Felicity Barringer, and attended by Arthur Sulzberger Jr., Maureen Dowd, Steven Weisman, and Elisabeth Bumiller, Rice was reportedly overheard saying, “As I was telling my husb—†and then stopping herself abruptly, before saying, “As I was telling President Bush.†Jaws dropped, but a guest says the slip by the unmarried politician, who spends weekends with the president and his wife, seemed more psychologically telling than incriminating. Nobody thinks Bush and Rice are actually an item. A National Security Council spokesman laughed and said, “No comment.â€

Ut-oh! I better not let my dad see this one! it would ruin him LOL my dad LOVES Condie and is always saying that if he wasn't married he would be cortin Condie!

I am sure that if dear Laura wasn't in Pres. Bush's life Condie would be the very next in line! She's a very intellagent and Beautiful women. as for the slip of the tongue..........I am sure she wouldn't mind being married to him. and it was prolly just a Freudian slip. Saying something she wishes instead of what she ment to say. That is pretty funny thou!!

My first thought is she spends so much time with the president, that it was just an accident. But since she isn't married, who knows? I'm sure she'll spend some time living that one down.

AS FREUD SAID...THERE ARE NO ACCIDENTS!

I'VE MADE MANY A FREUDIAN SLIP IN MY DAY, MANY SPOKEN TO MY PSYCHIATRIST WHOM I ADORE...I THINK NINE TIMES OUT OF TEN THEY MEAN SOMETHING. AND IF YOU TAKE THE TIME, YOU CAN FIGURE IT OUT. THE FACT THAT CONDI RICE IS NOT MARRIED, MAKES THIS VERY INTERESTING.

HOWEVER, I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT SHE HAD BETTER TASTE IN MEN!

My husband and I have been speculating for the past couple of years about that relationship. We're anything but Bush fans, and Rice is obviously one of the more intelligent members of the administration, so there's got to be some explanation for her unwavering loyalty to him. Being a nasty person, I usually refer to her as the "Concubine", and a colleague who has about as much respect for public figures as I do calls her "Stepford Wife II". Sorry - I don't want to hurt anybody's feelings, but we really have been wondering about her, and I'm sure we're not the only ones.

LOL JCAT...CONCUBINE!!!
Laura I guess is Stepford Wife I. Have you noticed that most
female Republican pols and the wives of pols have "helmet head hairdos?" Cracks me up, must be a prerequisite of some sort!

Now ladies....would you say such a thing about Colin Powel? Why is it that thoughts (and labels) such as these come up when a woman is involved, but not when a man is involved!?!

You are right! I guess I just let my socialist leanings get the best of me! What always gets my goat is how there are certain words like Tr**p and SL** for a woman but none for a man...even gigilo is a romantized term!

the Pres isn't as close to Powell. He and Condie have an unusually close relationship. This is pretty widely known. I suspect some of it probably is that she is a real yes person, was known for that at Stanford. Doesn't really rock the boat. He is comfy with her. I suspect she is more loyal than he is. I think he may let her down at some point.

Well, I don't know if they are an item, and I don't really care. If he is having an affair, it wouldn't make him any different from any other US president

Renae - are you asking what if Bush was with Colin Powell? I would die of shock because Powell seems a bit of a "manly man" and can't see him going for Bush

I like Colin Powell, so I don't have any names for him. But I have some really nasty ones for Ashcroft, Cheney, Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz. Not to mention Presidents "Scrubby Shrub" (R) and "Pottyman" (D).

I don't care if they are having an affair, what I do care about is is this woman doing her job? I don't think so. That is a INCREDIBLY powerful position in the world, and if you are just enjoying the comfort of a safe relationship with your boss and not using the skills and knowledge you have, that is
horrible. I dont think she is doing her job.

I'm sure it was just a slip - she's probably just tired and running on empty from being part of the circus otherwise known as the White House. She'll be hearing about it for a while, though!

I make mistakes like that all the time, and I'm certainly not an "item" with anyone but my husband. It can be embarrassing, though.

Marge, I hope you don't think that she is having an affair with Bush....everyone was just joking about that!
I am no fan of the Bush administration, but I can't see any evidence that she is not doing her job or that she is having an inappropriate relationship with anyone. It was just a Freudian slip.

I don't think she is having an affair with him. I just think she's a yes person, doesn't question him, and so he likes her is all. At her level in the WH I call that not doing your job.
