I'm so fed up today, as some of you may know my little Jeep Jeep is going in for her spay on Thursday, I tried to book her appointment months ago but due to the waiting list I had to settle for April 22nd.

Poor old Jeeps has been in heat for the last 4 days, it's her first heat and I am feeling completely guilty. If only I'd booked with one of the other vets in the area she wouldn't have to go through this. She looks so sad and uncomfortable

To top it off I have huge blisters on my one hand from stripping the wallpaper which means I will not be able to do any more for a few days and because it rained so heavily last night I can't even mow the grass like I had planned.

Sorry for the long rant, I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself today

Sorry you're having such a bad day. Why does everything always happen at the same time. Poor Jeeps. I have only ever had one cat on heat and that was so long ago I can't remember what it was like. It sure sounds horrible. Never mind, she won't have to go through it again. Good luck on Thursday, a big day for you both. Have you put something on your blisters? Have you got any petroleum jelly handy?

The blisters are fine
, it's just annoying that I have to hold off finishing the wallpaper stripping. Jeepers is MUCH better today, more like her usual self, I can't fathom why people don't get their pets fixed, it broke my heart to see her so uncomfortable. I'm gonna call the vets tomorrow to let them know, hopefully she'll be okay by Thursday.

I've never understood if either. Glad to know she is better today. Is there any product out there that can help? like a relaxant or something? http://www.naturvet.com/listingview.php?listingID=78
this is what I've got for stressful times. haven't tried it yet as I'm leary about it, but I do have it in case.

Some days are like that, aren't they?

Calming vibes on their way -- for your frustrations, and for little Jeeps's discomfort. Hope everything goes well on Thursday. That'll be a huge relief, won't it?

Hang in there!
You know you can come here and dump the frustrations whenever you need to.

Rhian you poor thing. I would give the vet a ring. The reason being when i took Rosie to be spayed, the nurse took her away to let the vet see her first. She came back and asked me if she was in season at the moment e.g. crying more than normal, washing herself below more. I said no more than normal?!.

The nurse then said if she was in season they may not be able to operate because there would be a chance her womb etc would fall to pieces, but the vet would check her thoroughly and ring if there was a problem.

As luck would have it she was ok to be done. I can understand your anguish at the moment though because i've got to go through this again.

Let us know what happens with the vet.

I called them today. They said there should be no problem because she should be out of heat by Thursday (fingers crossed!)

My boyfriend gets HUGE blisters on his hands from racing (quarter sized). A soak in Epsom Salt and warm water will take care of them overnite. Sorry you had to hold off on wallpaper stripping, I know how frustrating it is to not be able to do what you planned.

Hope your kitty is feeling a bit better today!

What time do you have to stop feeding her 8.00 p.m.?.

Post us as soon as you can to let us know how things are, because we all know it's an anxious day!

No food after 6pm (I think she must be early on the list) I keep phoning the vets to make sure they know she's been in heat (I'm sure they think I'm a total crazy!) I have a nasty feeling they're gonna call me tomorrow and tell me they can't do it, although I'm 99 percent sure she's not in heat anymore (No yowling, no excessive cleaning, less cuddling...) I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they will say she's okay to spay. I don't think either of us can take another heat!

I know how you feel. When they told me that about Rosie and sent me away saying they would ring if a problem, i still couldn't help myself but to ring them an hour later, because like you i dreaded the thought of going through all that again!

They'll give her a thorough check when you drop her off just to make sure. Im still keeping my fingers crossed for you both!.

They won't think your crazy, your just showing your a responsible owner.

Hi Jeeperscat - it's horrible isn't it. Buttons and Felix were only done about 4 weeks ago, but I was more worried about Buttons because it is a bigger thing for the girls. It will soon be all over. I'll be thinking about you and Jeepers tomorrow. Good Luck.

Only an hour an a half and hopefully I can go get Jeepers. I rang about an hour ago and she was still out for the count, I've got to call again in about an hour to see if she's ready for collection. I can't wait the house is surprisingly empty without her, she usually sleeps all afternoon and I keep looking for her
I'm going crazy sat here waiting
