I've been considering this for a long time now. With this last diagnosis of congestive heart failure I've made my decission final.

I'm going to give up my house and move into an apartment where I don't have to worry about maintenance and stuff. It really tires me to have to worry about lawn mowing, and fixing things inside etc.

So I am going to be rehoming 2 of my kitties.
It was a hard decission but I think this is important for me to do for my health. Carmella and Henrietta will be the ones that are rehomed. I can't stand even looking at their little faces right now. But I came to my decission after careful consideration. Peaches I've had the longest and she is my baby. So she has to go with me. I can't put Hallie through a big change and thus, stress because of her condition (PKD) and Jake has been with Hallie a long time.

I've got ads in a few places. But if anyone you know would be interested, please send them my way. I do know of a transporter that will fly with cat's for a reasonable price. Or if they live somewhere fairly close to Utah, they are welcome to drive here.

Please, I don't want anyone bashing me because I have to rehome some of my kitties. This is already hard enough for me. I feel terribly guilty.

Tammie, sometimes life throws us curve balls. I am sorry I did not read about the diagnosis being firm of congestive heart failure. The fact that you are looking out for the welfare of your cats is admirable. Have you tried the Persian Rescue Groups?

I am so sorry to hear of your troubles, and that you are going to have to part with your kitties. I would hope no one here would be so mean as to give you grief about it. Best of luck in finding them a great home, and with your move.

Dear Mzjazz2u,

First things first. Take care of yourself. If you can't find anyone to take in your cats, I will. I live in Kingman, Arizona, not all that far from you. I will be getting a four day holliday on the Memorial Day Weekend. The company I work for gives me Memorial Day off and my birthday. My birthday is June 1st, the next day. I can drive up and get the cats.

Take care of your health first, girl.

Tammie, you have to take care of yourself first and foremost. Of all of the reasons I've heard for people rehoming their cats, yours is definitely a very credible and understandable reason.
As Mary Anne said, sometimes life throws us curveballs and we have to deal with it the best way we can.

Super tough decision, Tammie, and I don't envy you a bit of it. But, much as you don't want to do this, remember that the caregiver has to take care of herself, too. Better to do this now, while you can do it thoughtfully, and with as little upheaval as possible, than to avoid the issue and chance making yourself so sick you can't care for any of them.

Be gentle with yourself. You do have their best interests at heart and we know better than to think otherwise.

Thanks. I will make sure they have good homes! It's just so hard and I feel so sad and guilty. It's just that most apartment's will only allow 2 or 3 cats at the most.

It sounds like a couple of my fellow boardies may have misunderstood me. I'm only rehomeing 2 out of 5 kitties. So at least I'll still have the 3 to keep me company!

Hope you find a cat friendly apartment!!
Don't let the stress of moving get you down, or finding owners for the two furbabies
I'm sure all will turn out well, I am looking forward to hearing about your health getting better. In the meantime, let us know which apartments so that we can see what they look like
Maybe we could help you pick one out

Sorry about the position you have found yourself in. Please don't feel guilty you cannot help being poorly no more than anyone else can. You are still looking after your furbabes by sorting things out and doing the best thing for the little ones. That takes real love. I wish you all the best.

There are tons of cat friendly apartments here. They just don't let you have more then 2 or 3. So I'm not worried about that.

I wish there was some way in this world that I could take Carmella. I'm so in love with her. She's one of the most beautiful cats I've ever seen.

I know it had to tear you up inside to have to make this decision, because I know how much you love your beautiful Persians.

I just called a couple of my friends who live in the Salt Lake City area, and told them about it. There is a possibility that one of them might be able to get one of your babies. I'll know in about 20 minutes. They would definately give her a wonderful home.

Oh that's wonderful! Thanks so much for asking. Even if one of them can't take a kitty, maybe they can keep their feelers active for me.

I have to sign out for a couple hours but I'll check back when I'm done with my errands.

My friend. I am so sorry to hear about your health being poor. You must take care of you first. I know it is tearing you up inside to have to find homes for two of your babies, so don't beat yourself up about it. You are doing what is right for you and for them.

I know that it was a hard decision to make. I really don't know if I could do the same thing if in your shoes. Being a good Kitty Mom I know that you will do what is best for them.

Loving my beautiful baby girl
Wow, Tammie, you're going through several major life changes all at once. This must be rather overwhelming. Surely the most difficult transition of all will be rehoming your babies, but you are doing the best thing to take care of yourself so you don't become ill to the point you are unable to care for anyone. Your babies know how much you love them and it is that love that forces you to make this difficult decision. You are being so responsible to prepare for them to have the best loving home possible!

I just wanted to say that I am sorry for your recent diagnosis - I know it was a shock...and think you are doing what you have to do, to ensure you are here and in decent health, for your children, the cats you can keep and all those that care about you.

I wish you all the best in getting yourself moved into an apartment you can love, and in stabilizing your health,
