I am so sick...I have white spots all over both my tonsils...it sucks...it hurts to swallow. I couldn't go to the Dr. today to get antibiodics, because I was in class and had a major test I could not miss.
I have an appointment for Monday...but this weekend will be *ell in between.....any spare good thoughts you all have could really be used....I know I should be in bed right now...I'm running a fever and can't even swallow...but I can't sleep and need to communicate with my friends here, I feel so bad for not being around as much lately with school and all.

Sending lots of feel better soon vibes.
Debby, aren't there any urgent care clinics in your area that might be open on Saturdays?

My husband is such a butt...
He knows I am sick, he saw my tonsils, and when he got home awhile ago, I asked him if he would take Amber outside for awhile. when she wakes up since it is so nice out and give me a much needed break.....he said, "well I see you've had a couple beers so you must not be very sick...you take care of Amber when she wakes up...I'm going to drink some beer with John. (his friend) Yes...I've had a couple beers, I just wanted to relax a bit...but I still feel sick...which I am... and I still need a break....how insensitive is he? When his tonsils turn white.... you can darn well bet he'll be playing it for all it's worth...oh debby...I'm dying.....it hurts so bad....please cater to me nonstop!!!
I just hate him right now...not really hate,,,because that is a sin, and I don't actually hate anyone...but his insensitiveness is pushing me farther and farther away from him. All I wanted was a little more time on TCS, which I rarely get....and he used that as an excuse to leave and not take care of Amber.

Sorry to see that you're sick Debby! Take extra good care of yourself until you can get some antibiotics....You won't be good to anyone if you push yourself too hard!

Somone told me if you gargle with pickle juice, it would help...it didn't. It just gave me pickle breathe. *sigh* But the salt water does make it feel a bit better. Thanks Sherral...I wish you were part of my family...you are a very sweet, caring person.

I also have the swollen tonsils, with white spots. Just got sick today, so I too must wait out the weekend. I have had this before, many times, but it has been years. One time I refused to go to the doctor because I had no insurance, and was sick for a long time. If you don't mind advice from a newbie on the forum, it really does help to drink a lot of fluids. I drink water, eat fruit popcicles, and suck on vitamin C lozenges. The other advice folks gave will help too. Also, I read cat's and humans can give each other tonsillitis. Does anyone know if this is true? I am not trying to spread myths, just thought I had read that. Please excuse spelling etc, as I have taken nyquil. Hope you feel better. Get lot's of rest

Deb, sorry to hear that you're feeling so poorly, sending you major "get better vibes" and another hint to help the throat some- you remember the chloraseptic spray that you can use? They have come out with a throat lozenge with the same stuff in them that are WONDERFUL ! Wish I lived close to you, I'd have my hub come over and cook you some homeade chicken soup, but will just have to send hugs instead.

Thanks to both of you for the kind words...Tanya,,,don't ever feel that just because you are a "newbie" you can't give advice....I hope you get to feeling better soon, too! And Cindy...I wish I had a hubby like you who would make me chicken soup!

This whole thing sucks...I can hardly swallow and my hubby is being such jerk, as usual. But it helps so much to have friends here that I can vent to. Thanks guys!

Debby, maybe some Halls cough drops, Menthol and Eucalyptus (sp) might help with the sore throat. There is also a children's throat spray that is supposed to deaden the pain. Sorry you feel so badly.....get some rest.

Movin' on up!
Debby, sounds as if you may have tonsillitis or mono. (Just in case it IS mono - kiss your hubby
)

Saltwater gargles and Chloroseptic are both good. The Chloroseptic has an anesthetic in it. Don't worry about giving the cats tonsillitis - it isn't contagious. Of course, chicken soup cures EVERYTHING.

I'd loan you Bill but, he doesn't like to travel. Not only would he make chicken soup, he'd clean the house, do the laundry and change your oil. Maybe I should have him cloned - I'd make a fortune!

LMAO @ Cindy!

Debby, I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling so crummy & on top of it all your hubby is being so insensitive! I agree with the others about the Cloreseptic spray or lozenges...they really help numb the pain! You might want to take a couple Tylenol or Advil for the pain too. It always seems to be worse at night & it might help you get a little more rest. It does sound like you've got some infection going on in those tonsils, so definitely see your doc on Monday. Hope you start feeling better soon!

Sounds as though you have a bout of tonsilitis chuck - not the nicest thing in the world at all and you do need a course of anti biotics for sure. I would lay off the beer whilst you have it - I can understand if you had the drink as its cold, fizzy and almost acts as an anesthetic on the throat - problem is - when the fluid has gone - the pain remains! I cannot figure how i could have had the problem not long ago when I have no tonsils - had em out when I was knee high to a grasshopper.
My best practical suggestion is what the pharmacy told me when I get a thoat problem. All the throat sweets in the world are okay, but do what surgeons etc do, have a drink of soluble asprin and swallow slowly, let the tiny particles in the water get to the areas of the throat. It works wonders.
You really need the antibiotics though. Go and get it checked.

Just looked at my local health site and my diagnosis seems good - maybe I should have been a gp !!!and I quote "

Diagnosis is made on the basis of clinical symptoms.
Inspection of the mouth and throat shows enlarged, visible tonsils. They are usually reddened and may have white spots on them.

Gargle with warm saline or salt water (1 teaspoon in a glass of water).
Use a cool-mist vaporizer or humidifier in the room where you spend the most time.
Avoid acidic drinks , cigarette smoke or spicy food.
Paracetamol or paracetamol syrup (e.g. Calpol) can relieve symptoms.
Soothing lozenges can help by keeping the mouth and throat moist and more comfortable.
Sometimes ice cream can help.
If your throat is very painful, confine yourself to fluids, including milkshakes and soups.
A cold pack should be applied to the throat at two-hourly interval during the day.
The throat may be gargled several times daily with lemon juice. Gargle made from the fenugreek seeds is very effective in severe cases.

Medication
Pain-killers: Take paracetamol or aspirin for pain relief.
Antibiotics: Penicillin and erythromycin is usually chosen if the patient is not allergic to it or if the patient has fever. Any course of antibiotics prescribed should be completed

GET IT CHECKED BY YOUR GP - KEV and get well soon
with a cold and ear ache

Thats not nice - its BRILLIANT!!!
revenge is sweet they say - however, if the other half catches it - as far as men are concerned, we have raging beubonic flu as well.

As we say over here -
Children get colds - men get flu - and you women - you get on with it -

the truest words I ever heard!
