Well I've had some bad news. It appears my heart is slightly enlarged and God knows what else. A while ago, I had gone to our company gym to have the trainer help me establish a stregth training routine. That afternoon I started getting a lot of swelling in my extremities and belly. At first I thought I was drinking too much diet Pepsi or something. So I cut that out. I also was getting short of breath at the least bit of exertion and was unusually tired and fatigued. One week later I was worse so I went to our clinic. They did an EKG, chest xray and tons of blood tests and a urine test. They don't know if they want to call it CHF yet (congestive heart failure) so I have to go back Thrusday to see what else they have found and concluded. Meanwhile, they put me on lasix to get rid of the fluids which will relieve stress from my heart and lungs. My poor little feet were completely round. And my legs were so big I couldn't even put my jeans on. Doctor took one look at them and went into crisis mode. It hurt to walk or put any pressure on my legs and feet. My shins are still tender even though the edema has gone down quite a bit. My socks made this giant dent in my ankles that wouldn't go away even after I had them off all night long.

I can't believe this. I'm almost embarrassed to tell my friends and family. My health has been this giant crisis the last year and a half. And I'm only 45 years old (I think... maybe it's 46).
Anyway, please shift some vibes over my way. I need all I can get.

Oh no - Sending you massive 'get well/stay well/good news' vibes. Thank goodness you went and had it checked out! Don't worry about telling your friends and family - I'm sure they will be massively supportive (as will everyone here). Keep us posted.

They may also check out your heart valves, but from your descriptions it wouldn't be surprising if it's CHF.... that's what my sis had and she is younger than you.

Oh, no. I'm glad you went to the doctor's. Hopefully this'll be something that can be easily treated with medication. Get well soon!

I am so sorry - I wish you answers soon, and a quick resolution of the edema.

Oh Tammie, I hope everything is ok. Please tell your family. If it was your mom keeping something like this from you because she didn't want you to overreact, would you be upset? (that exact thing happened to Darrell and his mom) Your family should know. IMO of course.
