For a while now I have had a problem with Brandy who suddenly started urinating everywhere. The vet cannot find anything wrong with him and it may be age - hes unsure. I feel its his kidneys as he drinks a lot (the cat - not the vet) but the vet says all okay.

Anyway, I needed to have the complete lounge cleaned the other week so I did it all. Had the carpets cleaned and for a day or so - it seemed like a breath of air had come in the house.

Then I caught him next to a wall.

I have the secret now to stopping this problem. Its a six and two threes solution but it works.

Take a T bag - you do drink tea?? I have to I am a Yorkshireman. Then once used and its cooled, pour a few drops of OLBAS OIL on it. Olbas oil is a herbal remedy ideal for colds and completely natural. Health food shops as well as pharmacies sell it here and its cheap enough.

Then place the T bag with this smelling stuff on a small food bag and place it in the vicinity of where the cat has been urinating.
They hate the smell and hes given it a wide berth ever since - gone back to the litter tray which is great.

Its solved my problem without the need for chemicals etc which I am all for. The even better part is that the house smells of olbas oil and I am breathing a lot easier too.

Its cheap and may help some of you.

Best wishes

Kev

That's a great tip. Luckily, I don't have this problem. I just wanted to write and say that I thought all good Englishmen drank tea made from loose leaves not TEA BAGS!! What fun is it if you don't have to strain the tea and hope you don't get a little stick in your teeth?

(Mind you, I'm one of those dumb Americans, so what the H*** do I know!)

I am so glad to have that tip! I am at my wit's end with Fred. He has been peeing in my hall for months, and nothing seems to work. Wish me luck!

Hey Kev,
What a great solution (no pun intended). I hear you like Football (we call it soccer) in Yorkshire. Tea, Football, and Cats, got to love that - now if we could just resolve that driving on the left side of the road thing. Seeya, Doug

hi there - you are right - I love football - however, I am leeds born and bred - but follow manchester united to my dying day and will forever! Tea =-well Yorkshire folk love Yorkshire tea- for me - though - I alwas will be a coffee fan. Gimme a jar of carte Noire any day.
And finally - what you wanna go mess us round driving on the left and change us to the right for? - you lot need that experience for sure as driving on the right is not logical to me! neither is turning right on a red light - thats nuts and caused me more confuision than i can throw a stick at! we would get arrested for that here. I guess you dont have roundabouts - now thats the way to confuse you all!

Have a good one

Thank you for the comments - seems that the simplist ideas are the most effective ones for sure. Would be curious to know if it works for others. It costs a couple of quid here in the UK for a bottle of the stuff. Like I said - it works for the cats and also clears the sinuses!!!!

Glad to help and best wishes

This is a commom misconception (which I also used to have). After working with so many Brits, I've found that I now drink more tea than coffee (but with lemon, not milk - have to stick to my roots!) Of course, the Spaniards I work with are partly to blame - the coffee they make is as strong as lye!

Seriously, though, that's a good tip. I'll have to check that out - find out what the German equivalent is, because a friend has been having trouble with one of her cats wetting all over the house since she has adopted another cat.

I just checked this out - it's also called Olbas oil here. Does it matter what type of tea bags you use? The reason I ask is that JC loves to sniff whatever we're drinking, and appears to find Earl Grey tea disgusting. He really recoils after taking a whiff. He doesn't react as strongly if I'm drinking Orange Pekoe with lemon or lime juice, so I don't think it's just the citrus smell.

IF IT WERE A PROBLEM THAT IS THAT SERIOUS =- CAN SEE IF A WEE BOTTLE CAN BE SHIPPED OVER FOR YOUR FRIEND. UNSURE IF WE CAN SEND SUCH STUFF BUT CAN INVESTIGATE FOR YOU.
