Tonight I decided that my cat ponged enough. Maybe hes getting old is brandy, or maybe hes been under something in someones drive way when we were not looking - which is most likely. However, the tabby cat - he smells foul. So, I got out of the bath and ran another with luke warm water. Having dumped him in - all nice and gently,I learnt a few new things.....

Cats meows turn in to one heck of a Hooooooooowwwwwwwwwwllllll when they are standing upto the stomachs in lovely warm water. Its a blood curdling howl as well that goes to the pit of the soul.

My cats claws which are clipped every now and then - are capable of extending 6 inches from the base when in a bath.

My cat can grip onto anything - its been proved. My bath is large and yet, he can grip a highly polished surface which is incredible. This action is carried out with the six in claws he just found.

He hates water!

He looked like a drowned rat when completed.

Always wear an asbestos and steel covering over the front of body. His claws were getting way to close for me in shorts and a T shirt believe me.

Cats claws at 6inches become downright dangerous curved talons!

I am terrified of going to bed as he has that look on his face that means - soon as you get in there - you better watch it. I am a tabby, I am mean and downright cheesed off at you. can cats get revenge on humans???

That was sooo funny, how you described all of the things you learned, it is all so true! The one thing that I would suggest, from experience, since I started out bathing Dori like you did your cat. Is that if you don't have him standing in the water it isn't quite as bad. My kitchen sink is double sided. I fill one side up completely with water and put a towel that I cut a hole in the center of on the bottom of the other. (the hole is so the water can go down the drain). I think Dori feels more comfortable with her feet on the towel instead of just on the bottom of the sink. I use a cup to dip into the water on the other side and pour it on her. This way no running water, and she is never submerged in water. I also hold the scruff of her neck, I don't pick her up by the scruff of her neck but just hold it. I also don't wash her head. I am too worried about getting water in her ears. After the bath I towel her off and let her be. I usually give her a few treats and she is ready to cuddle even before she is completely dry.

LOL! What a good description. JC has had one bath, following his exploration of a bag of barbecue charcoal. Now I keep "cat wipes" on hand for quick cleanups. He doesn't seem to mind them at all.

Yup, I got the same picture!!

Well, I'd have sworn I'd seen that piece on this site, too, though a search did not turn it up. And then I'd have sworn I had it in my email humour file, but a search did not turn it up there, either. However, good ol' google did...

To prevent further injury and revenge-seeking injury, I recommend kitty wipes. They're like hand wipes, but for cats. My s/o wanted to bathe our cats. I told him he's on his own, I don't want them pissed off at me! He decided he liked his skin and other body parts intact, so we compromised on the wipes.

LOL..... Jeeps has 'dry shampoo' she won't tolerate a bath, yet dives for the water as soon as the tap goes on. I found her soaking wet the other day after trying to look up the tap whilst it was running

My parents have to use wipes on their cat (she was my cat from when I was a kid but my parents wouldn't let me have her when I moved out. My Dad is kind of a sucker for cats.
) She loves them.

I can't even image trying to bathe my cats with water, I don't think I'd have any skin left at all.
