Not to be morbid at all, but the thought crossed my mind today....What do I want to be remembered for? It is so easy to get caught up in the day to day making it through that I know I sometimes forget what is really important.

I would like to be remembered as someone who was empathetic, who was fair even if very opinionated and could see both sides of an issue, who was intelligent and caring and stood up for what she believed in, who fought against injustice for both human and animal (but honestly, mainly animal. Humans can fight for themselves most of the time.
)

What about you?

I would like to be remembered as a good friend who loved deeply and spent her life pursuing knowledge. And, like Heidi, I'd like to be remembered as an animal (well, cat) advocate.

Larry King has written a book on this. He asked celebrities to write their own obituaries and epitaphs. Some of them are very serious and touching and others are really funny. I can't remember the name of the book but I know Larry King compiled it.

The one that I remember from this morning is Brad Garrett (the brother on Everybody Loves Raymond). Some of his epitaphs were -

It's Sinatra's Heaven, God just lives in it.
Lincoln is shorter in person

I remember too that there were some from people who have passed away recently, Jack Lemmon, Mr. Rogers, Spalding Grey.

I would like to be remembered for what I did, rather than for what I did not do. For being a good friend, and a supporter of animals, for being a good wife and just a decent person. I would also like my writings to speak for me after I am gone.

I would like to be remembered as a loving mother to both human and kitties and a human being with her faults but hopefully with her good points too.

Darrell and I were just talking about this yesterday. I know it's morbid but I want to be parted out like a car when I die. My organs, tissues, brain...whatever. If somebody needs something, then by all means please take it from me. My body is just a shell that I won't need in the afterlife.

I would like to be remembered as someone with a refreshlying different point of view who could usually put things into perspective. I want to be remembered as generous, giving, loving and honest. I want to be remembered as someone who loved all animals and almost all people. Who had a hard time dealing with her sensitivity. and although she didn't have a green thumb, she sure tried!

ok, I have to go now.

I want to be remembered for my intelligence, my ability to think out of bounds, my love for animals, someone who fought for the rights of those who can not (ex. animals, the disabled) and the one that made a difference.

I want to be remembered as an outstanding activist that made the world a better place for all members of the animal kingdom, both human and non-human.

I would like to be remembered for my generous and open spirit and for my loyalty to what I believe in. I hope I have been able to help a few people make decisions that have positively affected the quality of animals lives.

I would like to be remembered for someone who would always be there for a friend in need and be a shoulder to cry on at any time, and as a person who gets satisfaction to give rather than receive, and for Rosie (and soon to be Sophie)who knows how loved she was

I want my baby boy to remember me as a kind and loving mother that nurtured his talents and guided him in positive directions
I want my husband to remember me as an excellent companion and a caring partner and someone who he could trust implicity - and someone who would tell him the truth at all times
I want the world to remember me as successful, happy and I desperately want to make a mark as SOMETHING positive
I want my cats to remember me as the eternal provider of tuna and titbits and that warm body they could curl up on at any time.

Nice thread Heidi.

I would like to be remembered for being a loving person, a good friend, with a good sense of humour. And like Hissy said, for what I did do, not what I didn't do. I also would like to be remembered for my looking for answers to everything, for my love of learning.

I'd like to be remembered for making people laugh or smile, having a shoulder or a hug there when it's needed, and for my loyalty to Family, God and Country.

Jeff

He'll probably be remembered for his last words that will be something like
"Hey Guys watch this....."

This is a really good question - it really made me think. I'd like to be remembered for being a good listener, a good friend, loyal and empathetic. Someone who really enjoyed laughter and making people laugh. A woman of faith.

I want to be remembered as a loving and nurturing mother, wife, daughter, and sister. I want to be remembered as someone who tried to make the world a better place, even if it was in just a small way.

Great thread Heidi!
