These are the brands I can buy in Taiwan. There are a few japanese brands that I won't bother listing (unless some of you have experience with japanese cat food), but I want to know how they rank.

Here are the ones I've heard of:

Purina Pro Plan
Royal Canine Sensible Choice
ROyal Canine Feline Nutrition
Nutro Choice

Here are the ones I haven't heard of:

ANF
Precept
Bensons NutraPro
Holistic

Any feedback? From that list what is best? I've been told Royal Canine Sensible Choice is the best of that list.

Oh... there's also Hill's.... but Mentos died eating their food his whole life. ALthough it probably wasn't the cause... I don't like it.

I know Nutro makes good dog food, but we haven't tried the cat food. Royal Canin is a great brand from what I hear, but to expensive for us right now, so maybe your best bet would be Royal?

Nutro is an excellent cat food as well....if you want to read more about the ingredients in their various cat foods you can find that information here

I used the version of Nutro preserved with vitamin e for several years, and my cats did well on it.

My answer didn't get through. Of the brands you know, I personally would rank them in this order: Nutro, Royal Canin, ProPlan, going by the meat content and personal experience (allergy problems with Royal Canin). ANF and Precept are considered premium foods here, but our cat doesn't like them; I've never heard of the other ones, unless the "Holistic" is "Almo Holistic", which is quite good. That's an Italian brand produced in Asia.

i believe you're right, it is Almo Holistic.

So ANF and Precept is premium, but not liked? So Nutro is what you'd suggest...

Cool, thanks.

I had good success with Royal Canin's Sensible Choice. My cats would not touch Nutro with a ten foot pole. If I had to choose one from the list I would choose Sensible Choice.

I'd also recommend the Almo Holistic. Our cat loves both the dry and canned varieties, and the canned is almost all meat or fish, with a little bit of rice and water.
