I just noticed this story:
http://www.contracostatimes.com/mld/...ts/8297354.htm
Obviously, the cats are only part of the story, but it's obvious that it's a situation that's out of control.
It should hit a nerve for anyone deemed "crazy" for trying to help the cats.

Betty Galin, 75, and Al Stuetzle, 85, have feuded for a couple years in a Mountain View mobile home park. She loves feral cats; he traps them -- an apparently combustible combination.
Restraining orders are involved, as are small claims court conflicts. Now Galin is facing criminal prosecution for allegedly popping Stuetzle in the face with a rock and later smacking him on the head with a metal flashlight, after he reportedly found her in his carport with his cat cage in hand.
Stuetzle said the cat fight began a couple years back, when feral felines started overrunning the place. They'd get under the mobile homes, have kittens, cry all night. The park provided traps, and the trapped cats were sent to animal control.
Galin objected, Stuetzle said. "They call her the 'Cat Lady,'" said Stuetzle, who's trapped about five cats. "She is, to put it nicely, eccentric."
