I went to put new bedding in one of the feral houses yesterday and when I opened it up there was a decomposing body of a possum inside! OMG it was soooo disgusting. I think I am going to have to throw away the house (and its a nice one) because the decomposing body juices soaked into the side and floor. Bleech!

Aaah...the joys of caring for wild critters!

I feel bad for the possum. I knew he had been living in there because I had seen him coming and going from the house during the winter. Of course since they sleep during the day, there was no way I was going to try to change the bedding any earlier. In fact, I don't know what possessed me to check it out yesterday....perhaps I knew unconsciously (or nasally) that he was dead. I have no idea when he died or what killed him. Perhaps he ate too much Cat Chow! Poor little critter.

I found 4 or 5 dead possumns under my shed and in my back yard over the years. Poor little things, I don't know what happened to them.

Soo cool, a house for feral babies. But, in most areas, I'm sure it's needed for no other reason than to get them out of the wind. Thank God for catlovers!
