For the last 2 days a male cat is hanging around my house mioawing constantly at my spayed female cat - a kind of yowling sound and then a bit more pathetic sounding. He sits about 2m away from her constantly talking to her. She ignores him except to run at him if he gets too close and he will retreat slightly. They never his or growl at each other and seem OK to just be nearish to each other. She never makes any sound towards him. He miaows and then walks away a bit and if she follows he changes the miaow to a much softer noise and if she stops following he really starts up again. Most of his posture seems submissive - sitting down close to the ground. I'm not that bothered as she seems not to be too bothered but today I was in the garden with the front door open and went inside to find male cat running swiftly out of the house. Yesterday when I got back, he was eating some of the food I'd left out for her. He's been around for ages and has never been that bothered to be around her before. So does anybody know what's going on? Does he want to be 'friends' or does he have ulterior motives?

Awwwwwww...he sounds so lonely. Is it possible he was abandoned? He just sounds like he needs lots of loving (and food) and isn't picky about whether he gets love from a person or another kitty.

I wondered if he was a stray but he looks in quite good condition. I was talking to someone else who has seen him all over the village where i live (England) but no-one seems to know who owns him and he doesn't have a collar. He's very nervy and won't let me get too close but he did let me feed him some hairball treats by hand. I didn't try to stroke him though. I found him in the house again when I went downstairs earlier on and he ran out. Forgot to shut the door again! He'd had some of her food again. I don't know how my cat would feel about him coming in the house? Presumably not too thrilled and i don't want her to get upset.

I would suggest you to be careful about that cat entering in your house. He/she might have contagious diseases & can spread it to your cat
