This morning I went over to a house a few miles from home and set some traps for the ferals over there. We have caught 5 in the last week, and we're probably down to a few elusive ones that are going to be a lot harder to catch and don't show up so readily. If we don't catch them this morning, we'll have a trapping party on Sunday night so we can take them to the vets on Monday morning.

So a question for everyone that has done this - what do you do to kill time when you are trapping? Particularly in a remote location where it isn't practical to leave for an hour or so and come back?

Just curious....

OH PHEW....you don't even want to know what I "thought" you meant by "killing time". Ok...my heart can start beating again.

I thought the same thing! My husband & I trap together so we at least have each other to talk to. We bring lots to drink, a radio, and just sit and watch. It can be pretty miserable here in the summer when at night it's still in the 100's!

I'd bring a good book to read and relax...

Good question!

I try to bring a friend and gab, but I've found that sometimes our voices distract the cats so we have to park really, really far away. We'll also eat snacks and drink, but then nature calls and we regret it!

I'll bring something to read and a flashlight to get some work done.

If I didn't have tuna oil all over my hands I'd consider cross-stitching or knitting in the car.

If I had a cell phone I'd use my free late night minutes to talk w/ a friend.
