How many cats for a single man?

It seems like this forum is very open about sexuality etc so I hope no one takes offense to my little poll. How many cats can a single man have before he is thought of as being gay? I've told my friend, who is also hetro, that people will think he is gay because he has 2 cats. I say that 1 is the limit. Who is right?

Ok, I voted for three. I used to think two but I have a straight male friend with 2 cats so 2 isn't enough for me to assume things anymore.

Of course, it would be 1 if he also drives one of the new VW bugs. Or is an interior designer.

as a 28 year old female and owner of 2 cats whom I absolutely adore & dote on, I wouldn't find a man who owns mulitple cats gay. In fact, since becoming a cat owner myself, I think I would more attracted to a guy with a few cats.

to me, owning a cat means a couple things.

The guy has a sense of responsiblity, shown by his willingness to take care of one/many cats.

The guy knows how to commit to something, ie. the care of an animal, and is probably capable of committing to a person.

The guy has a big heart, and wants to give some homeless cats a good home.

now why these things obviously don't apply to every male who owns a cat, I can say as a woman I would be more likely to infer that from a man who owns 2 cats, than 'he must be gay'.

Of course there such a thing as too many (which is regulated by things such as how big your home is, if you can finanically afford what you have taken on, if you have the time and energy to put towards your pets) and I probably would be taken aback by someone who had more than they could handle.

I didn't vote in the poll because for me there is no # that casts doubt on someones sexuality (in my mind)

I voted for two, but really, I think a guy could have as many as he wants without looking gay. I'd rather see a guy with cats than with a huge Rottie trying to look tough.

I voted for two cats because I think that if possible everyone should have at least two of them. Really don't see how a guy owning cats would make him look gay to begin with. And if he is gay then so what, as long as he takes care of his cats!!!

I, too, do not look upon the number of cats owned (if any) as a symbol of being gay.

My boyfriend has 2 cats, Brody and MarioMuss (Muss), and trust me...he is NOT gay!
We've come to the conclusion that we can never live together, because between the 2 of us, we have 10 cats!
Although he did just buy a 5 bedroom house, so if we kick out a room-mate or 2 we could maybe work a deal? :LOL:

I don't think the number of cats infers "gayness", but I would steer clear of Muscle Tank Tops and leather pants.

I voted 5 but that does not mean someone is gay. If a man had five cats I would not think he is gay I would just think he loves cats. Before I married my husband people thought he was gay he had one cat at the time we now have 4. My husband is not gay of course! We met at school and everyone thought he was gay he dressed nice and is a very nice person to talk to. And very good looking I think!

I don't think owning cats has anything to do with being gay. I wish I could find a man who loves cats as much as I do. I had a guy once who did, unfortunately he thought drugs were more important. A lesson learned. I would give my right *** to find someone who knows how to commit to something as passionate as the responsibility of cats and relationship.

So my answer is as many as he wants!!!

I don't think it should matter. Also don't care if he's gay as long as he gave them lots of love and the best care : As a matter of fact, one of the most manly type of guy I've ever dated had 7 cats! LOL..he loved the outdoors,(wouldn't hunt)loved to camp, all that stuff We're still very good friends. Come to think of it...I've never dated anyone that didn't have cats. Guess I'll vote now

People confuse my sexual preferences and my cats once...just once.

I will just say the same things as others. I don't think that owning any number of cats is a sign of homosexuality. I don't have any stereotypes for homosexual man (not the transsexuals). And even if he's a homosexual (or a transsexual), who cares as long as he has cats

I do not think that a man's sexuality should be determined by his heart ( how many cats he has)

Hmm... Have as many cats as you feel you can take care of. They are such fabulous creatures. I had never heard of somebody judging somebody elses sexuality on the number of cats. You hear something new everyday. :LOL:

Is it a guy thing? Do other men think someone is gay because they like cats? If that's the case, then whether a man has one or a dozen, it shows them to be very confident in their sexuality - whatever that may be.

So maybe the number of cats they have is more of an indicator of how little they credit the opinions of others.
