Ok folks.... I guess it's not easy to say this, but I am leaving TCS for good.

Most lately I have been having a very busy schedule, which is keeping me away from my computer a lot. School homework is starting to tighten the nooze on me. I presume not many people have as part of their homework an essay on paralelisms between Athenian democracy and American democracy.

I have been having also several personal problems, particularly with my parents... Vicky has been having many personal problems also.

I have been lately going through unexplained episodes of depression.

To top it off I have been having several problems with members (whose names I will not mention) here in TCS. I have been attacked a lot by some members via PM and the IMO debates are starting to get too offensive to handle. I no longer feel welcome in this forum. I feel as if people were trying to make me feel bad in here or coax me to get out of here. I guess I am not fit to be a good member, am I?

But regardless of it all, I want before I go to thank all the members of the mod squad, for they really make the best effort I have ever seen in making this a safe and nice place to be in.

And where can I leave Anne? She's the one who without her this place would not exist. She is truly a person to thank, and to keep in a special place of our minds.

And Mary Anne, who has, with her editing abilities turned the rest of the site into a virtual encyclopedia about cats.

And what about the members who welcomed me when I entered for the first time here? Those are really good memories.

I want to also thank all those who have, with their posts made the best efforts at making this a special place.

But the time has come to say what I've been dying to say: APRIL FOOL! I am not really going away! I am not having any such problems with other members, and if I was, I would be getting the nuclear warhead ready instead of going away! I am not having personal problems with my parents nor is Vicky! Really, I had to make a good April Fools joke, so what better and more original one than this?

Happy April Fools day everyone.

PS: The thanking to the modsquad and everyone else is true - Without them, this wouldn't be the nice place it is!

Argh. I hate April Fools Day. I was getting terribly upset until I got to the part about april fools. This was my fourth one today. My doctor told me I was pregnant (must have been a virgin implant then because I haven't been with anybody in six months. I think I would have noticed by now
), then my mom told me she was leaving my dad, (which wouldn't have been that bad), my best friend told me he was moving to Alberta and now this.

Argh. I must be a target or everybody knows I'm guillible(sp)

That was cruel, Victor - I was already formulating a reply while reading your post! As a jaded baby boomer who sees most things in shades of gray, I really enjoy your passionate contributions here. Glad to hear it was just a joke!

HAHA! Victor, you really had me going, and I was also formulating a response in my head while reading. I always found your posts in IMO insightful....I was thinking "What? Who offended Victor??" and was going to proceed to read through that forum and see who picked on you....I'm soo gullible!

Funny bunny... Some say I ought to become a comedian!

Here in Latin America there is no April Fools, but there is an equivalent of "DÃ:censor:a de los Santos Inocentes" (Day of the Holy Innocent) which is on dec. 28. The jokes we make that day are some of the cruelest on earth. But hey, any excuse for a joke!

kikatz, I agree that if you were to be pregnant you would have already noticed by now.
That's an original joke.

Jcat, thanks for those comments *blushing*, People say I have always been passionate.

Sofiecusion... love that! Who picked on VÃ:censor:c? Thanks for your comments on my IMO posts.

Seems to me I am capable of making good jokes

Tut, tut, Brandon. I enjoy your posts as well. Have you decided what you want to study / do with the rest of your life? (Me, nag? God forbid!)

Jcat... that's a good question... can't answer it completely.

So far, I am not totally sure on what should I study... I have been mostly convinced of studying history... although I can't decide on what field... like them all.

I guess I would most probably study in Spain, most probably in the Autonomous University of Madrid or in Seville. They are better than American universities when it comes to history.

Now, in Spain there is no such thing as bachelors degree. There is a "Licenciatura" which is the Bachelors degree and Masters rolled up into one and double as difficult.

What shall I do after that... I am not totally sure.. I guess the most appropiate thing would be to settle down a while in Academia in order to start doing the doctorate.

Afterwards... power struggle?
Even in Academia there are such... so if somebody is near me as rector or academic of the tongue or anything like that... he better glue himself to the chair!

Unfortunately many of the things I think about studying are the kind of stuff that will get you as much money in PR as ice fishing (ever heard of ice fishing in Puerto Rico?) so I guess I will have to get abroad.

But to be truthful... I sometimes wonde if this is just too modest for my power thirst tastes.

Were you asking me or Victor?
If you were asking me, then no I haven't decided at all. I just want to get accepted to the U and do my undergrads. We'll see where I go from there.

Peace,
Brandon
