We have a 5 month old foster kitten who has a red and watery eye. Shes had it for about 2 days and I called to set up an appointment, but cant get her in till monday. Did a little research and I found you can use artificial tears over the counter. Is this correct?

Where do you think?
Never heard of this product. But it sounds like your cat might have pink eye. If this is the case a medicated ointment is what's needed.

I am a human doctor, not a vet.   Yes, you can buy artificial tears over the counter in a chemist's shop.  However they have no therapeutic effect and are used for dry eyes and for those humans who have contact lenses.

Try and get an earlier appointment today with the vet by telling the receptionist that the eye is involved.

With all best wishes,

Geoffrey
