We got Reese as a kitten and she always had eye boogers. No big deal, I would just wipe them away. Now she has developed this red scabbing thing under her right eye. I take a moist paper towel and try to wipe it away but it doesn't really come off. I also noticed that she is rubbing her eye with her paw sometimes. I think it may be painful because she really resists when I try to wipe it, whereas she used to not really mind when I wipe her eye boogers away. Also the other night I noticed that she was "crying," and by crying I mean her right eye was very watery. Should this be seen by a vet, or is it allergy related?
This was before it developed. I'm showing this for comparison

Then this was when her eye was watering really bad.

These were taken today

I forgot to mention, we've always called her a "winker" because she has always winked at us with that same eye ever since she was young.

Oh, she's adorable.  I love that first picture taken today.  She looks like she's posing for the camera!

To answer your question, yes it's a matter for the vet.  She's had a problem with that eye since she was young and now it seems to have moved into a new phase, with the scabbing and increased sensitivity to touch.   You really don't want it to get even worse, especially since she now shows signs of being in pain.  This is definitely a case for the vet.

Yes she always poses for the camera

I'll call her vet tomorrow (the clinic is closed on Thursdays for some absurd reason.)

Thanks!
