Hi all!

Bruce has been with us for more than two months now and the only thing we haven't figured out is the sleeping thing, but we're handling it. Overall I think we got the perfect cat!

He is not a big boy, and is not very food driven. His weight ranges from 3.300 to 3.600, from the 3 or 4 times I weighed him. He is also a very active kitten, always playing, jumping, climbing.

He does love his wet food and gobles it up. We give him one packet of wet Royal Canin Kitten Sterilized a day (half in the morning, half in the afternoon) and as much dry food as he wants (Royal Canin kitten sterilized too). He will eat probably about 50 grs of dry food a day. Somedays more, somedays less.

Should we be giving him more wet food? By the reference in the Royal Canin bag, this is the norm, but my boy looks kind of slim to me. And because of my late cat Zoya, I kind of freak about weight issues.

I will take a picture of him when I get home, so you can see what I'm saying.

Otherwise there is no other sign that worries me. His coat is silky, he is active, no litter troubles, is afectionatte and stubborn as hell!

Aren't teenagers suposed to be hungry all the time? I know I'm probably being an over zelous Mom, but I really want him to be healthy.

I'm thinking if you want him to eat more and he likes the wet food, then perhaps give him another meal of that and see if he shows more appetite. Maybe he'd prefer the wet. If the dry food is out all day he knows he can eat it if he was really hungry.

I've been (somewhat obsessively) weighing my kitten's food and putting how much she eats on a spreadsheet.  Some days she eats less than 5 ounces of food and some days she eats more than 7 ounces.  I also weigh her every 7-10 days.

I wouldn't worry about day-to-day changes in appetite, as long as your kitten has access to as much food as he wants to eat, and is slowly gaining weight as he grows.  "Teenage" kittens often have a long, lean and lanky look to them.

I'm not a fan of dry kibble, so I would encourage you to feed as much wet food as your kitten will eat.

Yea, I agree with the above.

As long as he is within the desired weight, he should be ok by eating a little less on certain days.

Maybe on certain days he ate more dry so he ate less of wet. Feed him more wet food at one sitting or more times in a day.

Eating more wet food is better than eating more dry food.

My teenage cat has a ravenous appetite. My roommates and I really have to coordinate and know when she was fed because she's smart enough to meow at all 3 of us to get food. This didn't really start until she was fixed though. I always thought cats gain weight after being fixed.
