Has anyone tried the Nature's Variety Raw Bites? I'm thinking of adding this to my two 9 month old kittens' diet as a way for them to get some more nutrition, and I am asking about these specifically because they are the only raw food readily available in my area. Here's the ingredients list: Chicken (Including Ground Chicken Bone), Turkey Heart, Turkey Liver, Turkey Bone, Yeast Culture, Pumpkin Seeds, Montmorillonite Clay, Apples, Broccoli, Butternut Squash, Salt, Cod Liver Oil, Dried Kelp, Carrots, Spinach, Taurine, Dried Chicory Root and Blueberries

Any experience with these, positive or negative or thoughts on the ingredients would be appreciated

I feed the NV Raw Bites to my Aby as a post-dinner and bedtime snack. He mainly eats the NV raw medallions with a little raw/pre-mix. I mainly feed the chicken one since the pet store doesn't get the rabbit one in often. Once in awhile I'll get he chicken and tuna one. I buy the 3.5 lbg bag.

I don't have a problem with the Raw Bites at all. My Aby likes the food just fine. I fill a small container with Raw Bites and let that thaw in the fridge so that it's ready to feed. The Raw Bites do defrost at room temperature within 5 minutes or so but try telling a hungry cat to wait that long

If your pet store sell the Raw Bites, they may be able to get the NV medallions as well.

Yes, I have tried that. My cats just didn't care for it. I don't like all the veggies in it, there was really no need for them. I only tried it because I got it for free.

I couldn't use my bag of bites because it was all frozen together into one big clump. What I could scrape off, my cat ate. We ended up using the chicken medallions.
Now we just use ground rabbit, chunked turkey thigh and a few supplements without that extra stuff.

I just whack the bag on the counter a couple times to break up the clumps. It also doubles as a way to relieve some stress

We're renting and when I slam it on the floor instead, it scares my boyfriend :)

Unfortunately my store doesn't sell the medallions, they only stock the ones for dogs. I actually ended up getting a bag of the bites and so far, so good! They ate it right up. I'll keep an eye out for it getting frozen together though

I have to special order the medallions from my local pet store. They usually have a few bags of one variety in stock which I buy all of but I always have to special order the other variety. Your local pet store may be able to special order you the medalions. If they get the dog medallions, their distributor likely has the cat ones as well.

Glad your cats like the Raw Bites

I don't like either the bites or medallions in general, as they're way too susceptible to defrosting/refreezing and freezer burn, resulting in my cats refusing to touch the food.  This might be more of a problem in my area, as Nature Variety frozen food deliveries in NYC seem to be extremely unreliable - I've heard several pet store owners say that they order items that never arrive, and the food is almost never fresh when it does show up.

You might consider the freeze dried version of the same food (Nature Variety Raw Market).  My cats like it and I've been using it for pet sitter situations, and plan to use it on hot days when I'm not excited about leaving raw food out.   It works out about the same cost as the raw bites especially if you get it on subscribe & save from Amazon or Chewy.  It does contain more veggies than the raw food (10% as opposed to 5%) but I consider that acceptable for occasional feeding.
