I know a lot of cats paw the floor after they are done eating. Marbles (5mos) does it, usually just a few times. However, she just finished eating and pawed the floor vigorously for several *minutes.* paw paw paw, over and over, sniff food, more pawing, sniff food, over and over, intensely. Until finally I said her name and it was like it snapped her out of it...she walked away, came right back, and started it all over for several minutes *again*! Weirdest thing, it was like she was transfixed [emoji]128516[/emoji]

Lol.......:lol3:........it's perfectly normal for Marbles to do that. It's their natural instinct.

In the wild, cats and big wild cats does that as to cover their tracks so that predators will not know that they are there. So the cover up their left over food and come back later for them.

Marbles not alone as many domestic cats do that. My boy does that pretty often too. When I give him his food too early when he's not hungry, he'll sniff and do the covering action that is digging the ground. Sometimes When I'm a little slow in clearing his dish, he happens to walk past and he'll do that.

It's quite comical looking at them do that :lol3:

Lydia does this occasionally too. Usually it's only a few paws and then she's good, but other times she's really invested in trying to cover it! Maybe an extra good supper? :p

she takes the entire kitchen floor runner heaps into mound on top of food dish

Covers all food dishes for later even your own supper you leave in another room.
