Boy, I'm glad my Cleopatra is being a nice girl, and hope it stays, after reading all the problems.
I had my share, when she attacked me a few times, (viciously) and one day I thought of something and was laughing, and laughing, and laughing. Then where I had my operation, or scar tissue, hurt real bad, and I was loud, like saying ouch or something like that over and over, and don't know why, guess I scared her, but she was hissing, and howling, and hiding, with the hair on her back standing up.
She settled some, (weeks later) so I grabbed her and put her in the cage, and had a vet appointment scheduled. The vet was only a couple blocks down the street but poor Cleopatra cried and cried and cried like she had never cried before. I really think she thought I was going to get rid of her. That had me change her diet from dry to only canned food , and checked her a little bit at one point Cleopatra rub her head against my hand and I told the vet yes she was a good actress because she was being affectionate. Well when I took little Cleopatra home comma I thought Cleopatra was going to be hissing and hiding and howling again comma but she went over and lay down real nice she has been OK after that and has become my best buddy. Right now she just finished eating and came in the bedroom with me and is laying upside down next to the bed. I understand when they lay upside down it means they are comfortable with you. She still hisses at me once in awhile but I don't think she means nothing if she feels a little cornered or something I think or if she goes outside and I tell her to get in the house (she is not allowed out) she has hissed a few times I just tell her to stop it she got a little bit smacking me the other day when that happened but I just scolded her a little bit and she was okay after that. I will just tell her to quit hissing at Daddy and not yet in a big war with her because I don't want to provoke a fight with her and then she is okay I don't really think she realizes she is getting a little bit mean but I just let it go and she is okay.

It was so delightful to read how Cleopatra has settled in and decided you are her human.  When I saw the title of your thread, I was a bit worried and then it turned out to be one bit of good news after the next.  I'm really glad that things are going so well.  She sounds like a wonderful cat and thanks to your patience and understanding, her inner "good cat" is coming out.  It's obvious that she has a mind of her own - her hissing seems to only happen when you are telling her something she doesn't want to hear.  Thank heavens the attacks have stopped!  And yes, you are right.  When Cleopatra lies on her back around you, she is letting you know that she trusts you.  A word of warning about that, though.  Those cute furry tummies seem to call out for a tummy rub but be careful about that.  Many cats don't like it at all and show you so with a few well-placed claws.  Just be cautious before you take the bait!

Thank you. Yeah, it was a happy post.
No, she don't like her tummy touched, or don't allow me to pick her up.
