hi all i have a 8 week pregnant cat i have a nesting box set up in my room away from my other cat all ready for her big day (she doent seem to go into it though), my 2 cats get on really well im just wondering when would be the best time to separate them compleatly if i do need to at all, when i come to work i have been leaving the pregnant cat in my bedroom and the other one has the run of the house and when i go to sleep at night Nyla the pregnant cat sleeps with me and Mia sleeps downstairs, when im home i let them both together so i can keep my eye on them, am i ok doing this? thank you

If they are best friends, you can probably even let them be together - if the high preg clearly desires it.   Wach ouf what is happening when the kittens aren born - is the aunt helping out, or is she trying to take over?

But if in any doubt at all, its wise to continue as you do.   Exactly so.  Real model.

Thankyou i just dont want the other cat feel like im pushing her out they both use to sleep with me but because Nylas nesting box is set up in my room i dont want the other cat going into it so i might just continue as i am for the time being and see what she is like once the kittens are born, I had my Nyla scanned and told there was possible 7-8 kittens inside her
im just hoping she will be ok with the birth as this is her 1st litter

With such a big litter a co-momma will be must helpful, it it works out.  You can do a rotation scheme, half with biological momma nursing, half taking the midday nap with the co-momma, and rotate now and then.

If it doesnt wokr out, have an extra little nest with heating pad, and rotate the same way.

With a possible big litter coming you may need to rotate the kittens in 2 groups, or even help to supplement.

Please purchase powdered kitten formula, a tiny needleless syringe, and have a heat source such as a heating pad or rice sock ready to go. Also a kitchen scale that weighs in grams so you can weigh daily to ensure each kitten gains 6-10 grams apiece.

The temp has fallen, so its apparently nearing.  As she is laying on the same spot, its even possible the prelabor thas began.

But the exact hour is impossible to know....   Just to be prepared, observe and ejnjoy the situation...

Thankyou Stefan iv had her nesting box set up for ages now and she's not bothered with it but today she went for a lie down in it for a good few hours so I'm happy with that as thought she didn't like where it was, my pregnant cat is nearly 2 my other cat is 1

Many high pregs take the nest first in last moments, or even AFTER the birth.  In the nature they dont want to get their  coming nest smelly nor fleas infested.

So her intressse is anothr sign its nearing...

If she has more she will have them when her body is ready. Kittens can be delivered hours or even days apart. Try not to worry!
