Today's question is inspired by @mickNsnicks2mom's post about dreaming yesterday.

Do you sleepwalk or talk in your sleep?

I do sometimes.  I rarely remember it but DH will tell me later.  I don't think I have in a while.  I do remember waking up to DH asking me what I was doing or what I said because I sat up in bed and started talking.  He said sometimes I'd say "nothing" and just lay back down.  Other times I'd just stop and lay down without acknowledging him.  Most were before we had the girls so long before we had kids.  I can't imagine what I had to say like that.

The one time I do remember was at our old house.  I remember I was standing at a big green panel with all kinds of knobs, buttons, and dials; like on an old submarine or ship or something along those lines.  It was probably something out of my Grandparent's generation based on color and technology.
I was standing there adjusting everything and suddenly my DH says "What are you doing?" and I realized I wasn't in bed; I was standing at the 18" blank space of wall between his dresser and a small shelf we had in there; adjusting imaginary dials.
Twice when I lived at home I woke up to find I'd tried to change my clothing in my sleep.  Unsuccessfully.

When I was a kid my Mom found me asleep on the floor in the bathroom and also downstairs on the couch.  Thankfully I never got hurt going down the stairs.  An old friend of ours was DH's roommate for a while and he used to lock himself in his bedroom because he would wander if he didn't.  He did still yank the curtains down off the wall in his sleep though.

I don't think I talk in my sleep but if I do, the cats are too polite to mention it.

When, I was a kid, I used to dream that I was late for school, get dressed and try to leave. My mom would grab me by the arm and ask what I was doing. I'd mumble that I was going to miss the bus and she'd head me back to my room because it was 1 or 2 AM.

My sister used to sleep walk with her eyes OPEN. Now that was creepy. She'd walk through the room, stop, look at me (not really seeing though) and keep going. She'd walk around a bit and then go back to bed. She never remembered any of it the next day

No, as far as I know I've never done either.

I do snore if there is a cat lying across my neck though.

I sleep scream. I tend to have night terrors now and then.  It's frightening for me, and more so for Tom.  I feel like I'm saying things but most times not.

I suffer from night terrors and have since I was a little girl. They are horrifying. It's probably why I'm so terrified of the dark. I haven't had an episode in several years, so maybe I am finally starting to outgrow them. They are the most horrible things to go through.

No, my husband has never mentioned it, anyway! HE has night terrors though, and as far as I can tell from his screaming is it is related to being underground or buried and can't get out. He has those quite frequently, but even more so when we are in a strange bed or house. When he was a child , his cousins and he crawled in a new water line being installed and they ended up crawling for several blocks in the total darkness(it was too small to turn around) and when they came to the other end some other kids wouldn't let them out! By then he was hysterical and ended up biting the other kid in the back to get him to move. I guess that would cause ANYONE to have nightmares!

I used to sleepwalk as a kid.  We had a swimming pool and my mom said they always went around and locked all the doors at night because they were afraid I'd walk outside and fall in the pool.  I think I was around 10 then.  Then it just stopped happening and I've never done it since.

I don't talk in my sleep, the closest I've ever come to saying anything is a startled scream. My husband, on the other hand, does talk in his sleep very often. He could be heard speaking, yelling, and sometimes crying.

I don't think I talk in my sleep.  I've always lived alone; the cats and dogs aren't telling!

I know I walk in my sleep.  Have done since young.  I once woke up down the end of our street at the mail box! Nightgown, barefeet, and it was Winter time.  That dash back home - scared, bewildered, cold - still comes to mind now and then!  I don't know that I've ever left the house again, but I find things moved in the mornings that I KNOW were not there when I went to bed.  And things the dogs and cats could not have done.  Must be me.  Weird!

I have been told that I talk in my sleep. I seem to mumble.. no one has told me exactly what I have said.

I used to sleepwalk occasionally, but haven't for years.  I've lived alone for so long that I don't really know if I talk in my sleep any more!  My mom was BAD about it, carrying on complete conversations.  You would think she was awake while you discussed something, then she'd ask an off-the-wall question, like, "Where are my color crayons?" and you would realize she was sound asleep!

...with the cats...
i used to sleepwalk, when i was a kid. my parents knew not to try to wake me up, and i'd eventually head back to bed on my own. it's been many years since i've done that, and i'm sure i don't do it now.

When i was in high school a friend called while I was asleep and apparently my mother got me and I talked to her and went back to bed.  The next day she called me from a restaurant asking where I was because I'd said I'd meet her there to celebrate her birthday! (With a bunch of other friends.)  I have no recollection of the conversation but my Mom remembers me talking to her.
Fortunately Mom also brought me to that restaurant so I could join the party!

I have a long time friend who is pretty hysterical in her sleep.  She'll fall asleep mid sentence but you won't know till suddenly her answers don't make sense anymore.  She used to wake me up with her talking when we'd have sleepovers.  It was a riot when she'd fall asleep on us during our college years and there were several people present to witness her antics.

Oh my gosh! That's a little scary!  I'm surprised the cold didn't wake you up sooner!

If I fall asleep on my couch with the lights on I will jump up and run to the front door because my dream is mixing with whats in my line of sight.  I try not to fall asleep there too often anymore.  Its really disruptive to my rest getting my heart rate all up like that.

I know, right?  I was about 10 or 11 years old at the time.  And I agree, getting the heart rate up like that is not fun.

This is a really interesting thread, I'm glad we have this.  The answers are amazing.

I think I mumble in my sleep. I don't think I sleep walk. I have such a hard time sleeping that I am lucky to sleep a solid 4 hours at once.

Jon gets night terrors often. Most often a dream. I would wake him up because he hollers in his sleep yelling NO!!!! or groaning or something. One time it was being chased by something a bear I think. Other times it was being in the ground and stuck...Now that I think about it he hasn't had them in months. Back when he worked he often got them once or twice a month. Usually when he was stressing out about something here. He hasn't told me if I talk in my sleep. I have vivid dreams and forget them when I wake. Some I write down if I can remember..most times it's like a ghost on my fingertips that I can't remember what was going on.

It's really funny I asked this question because apparently my DS had some kind of sleep talking episode last night.  I missed it though.
DH said at about 2 this morning he heard DS fuss/moaning in his room so he got up to check on him and DS was carrying on about something and needing to go to the bathroom.  So DH helped him down the hall and DS sat there saying "THIS IS NOT HAPPENING!!"  DS still wears a pull up at night but he's very close to being accident free.  We think he thought he was peeing in his pants.  Poor kid!
He was clearly not with it!
