I just want to start by saying that this is the first time I have had cats in my adult life so I have no experience handling these things but I am a concerned mommy. I have two female indoor cats that are a year old. They do not go outside nor do they have any contact with males so I wasn't in a hurry to get them fixed until the horrible moaning started! I had the first one spayed on Thursday and they didn't say anything about a cone but I did get hospital and take home pain meds. When I got her home she wasn't groggy or acting as if she was in any pain, she was acting as if nothing happened wanting to play and jump around. So I cleaned a spare bedroom out so that there was literally nothing for her to jump on and locked her in there. On Friday I went to the pet store and got her a cone because I knew that I wouldn't be home much the weekend and didn't want to take any chances. It is now Sunday and this is the first time I have let her roam freely since she came home but once again she insist on jumping but less high than usual since the collar has been on. I have checked her incision site and it looks great, clean, no bruising or swelling so I decided that I would just monitor her with the collar on and let her stay out for a little while. Now her sister who she has been with since birth is hissing at her because of the cone. I finally decided to take the cone off for a little while so that they could spend some time together but as soon as I did she immediately started biting her stitches (part of the reason I bought the cone is that I just had a feeling that she would be that cat). So now the cone is back on until her stitches come out unfortunately because she really hates that thing. My question is should I keep her locked up for another week and a half until her stitches come out or should she recover fine even though she is jumping some? I was also worried that her sister would pick at her stitches but as of right now as long as the collars on she wants absolutely nothing to do with her. I hate locking her in a room by herself and making her wear that thing but I want her to heal properly and I don't know if its worse for her to be locked up by herself or for her sister to be so mean to her. Just looking for any advice, her sister will be fixed on April 5 and her stitches come out April 6 so I'm looking at a whole month of dealing with this and any advice would be helpful! Thank You!

Each cat recovers differently, but it sounds like your girl is doing just fine. I'd say it's safe to remove the cone and to let her have free run of the house.  Just keep an eye on her incision and make sure it doesn't start weeping or become angry and red looking. If you see those, then she needs to get to the vet for a re-check. I'd say it's safe to say she doesn't need the pain meds either.
