I am trying to trap a cat that's been coming to my house every night. Obviously, I first have to ensure that the cat isn't microchipped and that it isn't feral. However, assuming it is a stray, as we have had a few in my neighborhood, I'm going to need to find a rescue. There are no, no-kill shelters or rescues, in at least 3 states, including my home states, that are taking cats. I don't have a garage or an extra room to keep the cat separated from my cats.  I also have allergies to my own cats, so brining in another isn't really viable.

I live in NJ.  If anyone can recommend a rescue or no-kill shelter, please let me know because I don't want to do this before knowing that I have place to take it.

So glad that you are looking out for that kitty! She needs a guardian angel...Lynn's Animal Rescue seems a good place to start inquiring (I follow them on Facebook). Also, an online search showed "one by one cat rescue" (www.onebyonenj.org); Tabbys Place, A Cat Sanctuary (www.tabbysplace.org); catrescueshelter.com/NewJersey.  Prayers and vibes that you get resources soon ~ susan

I tried Lynn's before. That's how I ended up keeping my male. She wasn't taking any cats then either.

Yes, it is so sad that when people realize one person is doing rescue, they tend to inundate that good soul with too many rescues. I am hoping that someone else here has good ideas. I follow quite a few Facebook pages and that seems like a great way to network. If you check out the thread below yours here, about the Persian cats, you will see what I'm talking about. Please don't quit hoping - you are an angel for trying!

I still have no tfound anyone to take this cat. I'm really worried about it. It doesn't look well. I have no objections to taking it to the vet to, at least, get it checked out. However, I don't have any place to keep it afterward, if it needs any kind of attention. Also, if I get it into a trap once and take it to the vet, if I do find someone to take it, I may not get it into a trap again. I don't what to do but I really need to help this cat.

:dunno: I am so sorry that no one has offered to help that poor kitty. I was hoping that somebody here would give us some more input. Prayers that you get an answer soon. Do you have any pictures of the cat? What seems to be her symptoms?

I haven't looked at that site yet. I'm not sure which shore that's referring to. I'm not really close to either the North or South Jersey Shores. I'm closer to Philadelphia but I've tried the rescues in that area.
The cat is kind of small and to me, just looks unhealthy. I don't know id it's just malnutrition. For a while, I wasn't able to feed it everyday because I was sick. I'm going to increase the amount of food, starting romorrow because it eats like it's starving. It could have parasites, though. I really want to take it to a vet. I can't believe there's no one who will help. I don't understand it. I'm not a rescue and I'm trying to help but I can't even get a reply from anyone and the replies that I got in thr past were ridiculous. If I could keep another cat, I would. If I had an empty garage, I'd put it in there but I don't. Is it really too much to take one more cat? Other cats are being adopted, there must be room somewhere.

:alright: This is so sad! Poor kitty....whenever there is one of those feel good stories on the media, there seems to be a ton of people offering to adopt the animal - why can they not adopt another one just as easily? I hope that you are feeling better yourself - you have a good heart! I keep hoping that if we keep this thread active, somebody with a good answer will see it.
If you can find some L-lysine and some probiotics to sprinkle on the food, that may help the cat's immune system help fight off whatever ails it.
We mustn't give up! :soldier:

Calling all Cats in Ocean county may be able to help or may know a rescue in your area.

Calling All Cats Rescues
It's quite a distance from me but I'll try anyway. I'm posting a picture of the cat. It was taken through a window. It doesn't look bad in this picture. I think it's the way it's sitting. It definitely looks a lot skinnier in other positions. I have a shelter for it outside but I don't know if it will go in. That is, I had one out there before but I made a new one, that's elevated off the ground a little more. Right now, I'm only feeding dry food because I haven't had any luck keeping ants out of wet. I also keep water out there. I'm still not sure whether it's stray or feral, male or female.

If I take this cat to the vet, what is the worst case scenario? That is, under what circumstances would it have to be euthanized?
