We are replacing all out kitchen appliances with a new stainless steel pkg. -- fridge, stove, micro, dishwasher. We have checked Home Depot and Lowe's and got quotes on Samsung and LG. I am tending to go with the Samsung pkg. from Lowes. Their warranty and followup is supposed to be good. Has anyone purchased any of these appliances and what is your opinion. Samsung seems to be the best - so far.

I do not buy appliances because I rent, but there have been several recent New reports in my area about the Samsung Washing Machines getting on fire or just not working.

According to the report, this is a country wide issue. Samsung is not upholding their warranties. I would Google the new report from WCVB-TV, Boston.

They even interviewed an attorney who was handling the claims for a class action suit.

Samsung seems to have gone downhill with their appliances.

Samsung was the one whose new phones were catching fire, now their washing machines are doing it too.  I think they have a major issue.

I found something about the washing machines.  They were actually exploding and there have been 9 injuries.  The recall isn't going well, Samsung has been ducking the issue.  http://abc7ny.com/news/7-on-your-side-samsung-customers-get-recall-runaround/1811584/

I have an old S4 phone, I keep phones until they die.  If they don't get their act together I won't be getting Samsung again.

You know, I forgot all about that Samsung problem with their washing machines. That happened a couple years ago. I wonder if people are still having problems.

We have a Samsung French door, 4-drawer refrigerator and I can say that, so far, it has been a great fridge. I think we've had it four years now, could be longer....whenever we did the kitchen over. We have the water/ice line in the door and the ice cubes did jam on us once. But we simply turned the ice mechanism off, let things go for a while, and then cleaned it out. We do have to change the water line filter every six months and that can get expensive over the long haul. But I also think that's true of any refrigerator with the water line. We've not had any trouble with our fridge. *knock on wood* It's their largest fridge and it's the only fridge I've ever had that can actually store everything I need it to store. I will never go back to any other fridge (meaning a side-by-side, or top freezer, etc.)

Our appliances don't match. We have the Samsung refrigerator, a Bosch dishwasher, a GE Profile electric range, and a Sharp microwave. They're all stainless, but they're not all the same brand.

We will get delivery of our new stainless steel LG kitchen appliances tomorrow. Can't wait to get them. French door refrigerator --- will have so much more room. Range has so many push buttons that I am afraid of learning how to work it. Will let you know how it goes and hopefully post pictures.

Good luck and, yes, please post pics. I can live vicariously through your new appliances. :D Our fridge is from our last house and although we've replaced the stove top, oven and dishwasher they're showing their age and not stainless steel.

New stainless steel pkg in our kitchen. Here is the fridge and the range. The micro and dishwasher are in but this was taken before they were installed. Just love the appliances. So much room in the fridge. Hope I posted these pics correctly. Still "learning" how to do this on the new site. I may have duplicated this.

Thank you --- we now have the dishwasher and micro installed. So many buttons!! I really don't use the dishwasher much since we're just 2 people and I don't like to accumulate dishes. But we are loving the new look in the kitchen. Just picked up 2 pendant lights for over the counter. They match the stainless.

Lana, did you make sure to get a stainless steel that was better for fingerprints? We did not and man, the drips from the water/ice line and the fingerprints make it difficult to keep the appliances clean.

How do you like your stove and oven? Do you like the black glass top? How is that to keep clean?

No, unfortunately it's not the smudge proof. But so far Windex and a microfiber cloth work just fine. Haven't used the oven yet, but used the burners on top. Cleans with that Weimann (?) white stove top cleaner. Used this on our old stove and it works great. One feature I really like on the stove top is that there is a 5th burner that you use just to keep food warm. Doesn't cook, but maintains the heat.

I have that fifth burner, too, and it comes in handy. I also have a bridge burner in case I need to use an oblong-shaped pan on the stove. I'll have to get some Weimann cleanser for my stove because, I can't find anything that does a good job on burned-on food. Thanks!

I use Windex on our appliances, too. I tried a cleanser for stainless steel and it did a great job of smudging, but nothing else.

Enjoy your new appliances!

Pam thanks for tell me about the stainless steel cleaner that did a great job of smudging (loved that). The salesman told us not to use that and a friend from Facebook (a fellow cat person) told me the same thing - she recommended the windex and microfiber cloth (she also recommended only Windex brand - not the store brands)

Finally got our new stainless steel kitchen appliances and decided to add pendant lights. Looks so nice in our tiny kitchen. Hope I can attach pics ok -- will try -- but still have issues with this process.
