I am beyond excited to learn there's a cat cafe opening in my rather small town on Saturday

Cats are from one of the local rescues (not the one I'm most familiar with) and looks to be a great addition to our small city.

Just excited and wanted to share this news.  Maybe we'll find a way to volunteer/help if we have free time!

That's great! My town does a "pop-up" cat cafe once in a while, with adoptable kittens from the local TNR group. I also went to one once with five permanent residents, two of which were Maine Coons who loved playing, which was very entertaining. :)

I always worry about the cats in those cat cafés. So long as they are well-treated, I am fine with it.

I wish one of these things would open here but public health and safety forbids it because of sanitary reasons. Can't have pet hair in the food.

The cat cafe I've been to does not allow cats in the kitchen for obvious reasons. Very clean establishment! Hopefully your local community comes around soon. :)

Unfortunately it's the government that is stopping it. There's actual laws that forbids animals any place food or drink is prepared, displayed, or served. With the exception of service dogs.

I was at one in NYC a few months ago - Koneko.  Those cats had a great life. Well loved, well fed and all healthy. Wonderful way for potential adopters to bond with a cat they like. They took every care to make sure visitors did not disturb the cats in any way.  You aren't even allowed to pick them up - if they come and sit on your lap that's fine, but no lifting.  Plus the atmosphere was very enriching to the cats lives - it was catified to the max possible.

It was spotless and the workers followed visitors around to ensure nothing happened to the kitties.

The cafe and kitchen of the one I was at was totally separated from the cat areas. You could not bring in food to the cat area. One had to go through a pass through space before you reached the cat space and even had to remove your shoes, and put on slippers so make sure you didn't drag anything into their area.  Cups of tea and some small pastries deemed safe if a cat got hold of it was allowed but nothing else.

We've got an exception in our city where cats and dogs are allowed in outside areas as long as the plates and utensils are plastic. It's not uncommon to see both with the owners at an upscale restaurant in downtown along with the occasional goat.

Same in my town! Except people just bring dogs... pretty sure local ordinances don't allow goats. :)

Yuck !!!   If I want food that's full of cat hair, I can just eat at home.

That's brilliant then. I've read about some in Japan I think it was. If you do go there maybe you could post some pix.

We've got alot of retired horse people who came south. They get fancy goats and like to show them off. Lol

That looks just brilliant! I wish we had one as well. And they put down dock decking for the floor. That stuff will last forever and isn't cheap!

Such nice photos. You know, cats don't ask for much to make them happy & content. Too bad there's so many cruel people in the world who can't pause their lives for a minute to look around them at animals in need.
