Hello everyone. First of all this forum has been so kind so thank you. I recently posted in the Cat Health forum under "Dealing with a Urinary Tract Blockage" about my four year old flame point siamese Torch's situation.

Recently my beloved furbaby, Torch, suffered from a severe urinary tract blockage that threatened failure of his kidneys.

I rushed him to an emergency vet clinic (during an awful snow storm, our luck has been horrible) and they treated him quickly, unblocking his obstruction. However, they informed me that male cats can become reblocked, and require multiple surgeries.

He was recovering fine, but a few hours after I was informed he did re-block. They unblocked his system again, and he's recovering again but he may require surgery to permanently fix this issue. Torch is an active, loving, rescued flame point Siamese.

Seeing him suffer from this disease is heart breaking and I cannot wait to get him home and normal. His rescue kitty sister, Cocoa also misses him very much.

I was informed my bill is already a whopping $4,000 and could grow depending on what happens next. He seems to be relapsing unfortunately so tomorrow we go to the vet. I've taken out a credit card with awful APR to pay for this, and any aid would be a blessing.

Any extra funds I will donate to the welfare of animals here in Pittsburgh, although I have a feeling I will need every cent due to the growing costs of his care and surgery. He may not need the PU surgery but I find out tomorrow. If I do not need extra funds I will post proof of donation to local animal welfare causes.

I have no children, but Torch is do doubtedly part of my small furry family. Please help our family, and donate to help Torch recover.

Any amount is appreciated, even if you cannot donate please share this if you can!! THANK YOU!! I will keep you all updated on his condition

having gone through this about 15m ago myself - please take time and check out organizations that can help with some of the expenses.  It is going to take a lot of time completing applications and whatnot, but there IS help out there.

The moment I got back from the vet clinic and knew what had to happen, I started a gofundme and went looking for organizations that might be able to help me in part.  I NEVER went into the situation expecting to not have to pay anything (some do).  While kitty was sedated and hanging out at the vet's with a catheter and fluids to get stable enough for surgery, I was burning up the internet and phone line at home.

In the end, my vet trimmed the bill (I also came in at the end of the day and did the end-of-day cleaning of exam rooms while kitty was there to "knock some of the bill off"), a few organizations knocked off a total of about $600 off, the gofundme campaign took off another $320, and the vet let me pay out the remaining $860.

I sold my car once to pay an emergency vet bill, so it comes down to saying a furkid is your kid and doing for them what you would for a human kid, I suppose.

Yes unfortunately & tragically they found a urethral tear in his upper urethral area. It was unfixable. We are devastated. And I'll be seeking grief counseling. This is an awful disease and an awful outcome. [emoji]128532[/emoji]

You have shown incredible determination and resolve in dealing with your situation. I am terribly, terribly sorry that Torch had to go through all this - life is so unfair - he was in the prime of his life and it is hard to not feel that he (and you) were cheated out of so many wonderful times together. But Torch can't be hurt anymore and if my ancestors were right in their beliefs, Torch is over RB with all our ancestors and all our descendants yet to be born. My Joey was PTS due to Manx syndrome in 2009 and it still hurts but I try to use my heartache to strengthen my resolve to reach out to other cat guardians in need. I firmly believe that you, too, will offer your experience and advice to others who can benefit during times of feline emergencies. Keep staying strong and I hope to see you in the forums here!  and please, please do not hesitate to PM me or anyone else here, anytime day or night (right now, I am doing "graveyard" shift due to mountain lion massacre in my yard on 3/31, trying to keep a very bold cougar out of our yard trying to save my remaining ferals).
