Welcome to TCS, Jasmin. I'm sorry your kitty isn't well. Did you get her from a breeder or a shelter? One thing that people normally recommend is to feed the kitten the same food as they had been eating.

I'm going to ask that your thread be moved to the Pregnant Cat and Kitten Care forum. That forum is here http://www.thecatsite.com/f/36/pregnant-cats-and-kitten-care

However, since she is a small, young kitty, you need to do more for her. She is probably very dehydrated from the diarrhea, and she REALLY needs to eat

Please go and buy some Pedialyte or other unflavored fluid that is sold in the baby section for human babies with diarrhea.

You should also buy some powdered kitten milk replacement or KMR. Do not buy Hartz brand, as members have had mixed experiences with this brand.

Also buy some canned kitten food. Kitten food has more calories than regular canned food.

Use the pedialyte instead of water to mix up a little KMR.

Mix KMR (or just pedialyte) into the pate-style wet food, and offer that to your kitten. If she isn't interested in the bowl, try putting some on your finger and putting it in her mouth. She might get the idea that this is yummy food and eat the slurry on her own.

If she is really wiped out, you can feed her with an eyedropper or feeding syringe (blunt tip, no needle).

You can try feeding either KMR or soupy wet food mixed with KMR or pedialyte Put the syringe in her cheek, and give her one drop at a time and make sure she swallows.

Hold her on her tummy, with her head slightly elevated. Think of the position she would be in nursing from her mom.

Feed very slowly and be sure she swallows. You can rub her throat gently to encourage her to swallow. Don't rush the food.

You might only need to syringe feed her once or twice and she'll start eating on her own. I would start by feeding her small amounts every hour or two. See if you can get 5-10 cc in her each feeding. You need to get her gaining weight.

Make sure she stays warm. You can set up a box with a heating pad (on low). Put the heating pad only under half of the box so she has room to move away from the heat if she gets too warm.

I hope feeding her for a day or so helps her get back to eating on her own. After she starts eating on her own, I would continue to feed her a mix of wet food and KMR so she gets more calories every time she eats. Adding the calories and the elecrolytes should help her system

I'm sure some of the more experienced members here will have more ideas to help your kitty. Sarthur2 Sarthur2 , @ashade1do you have any advice?

I hope this helps.

Please let us know how everything is going with your baby

How old is your kitten? She does look young and small.

Something you can do very quickly to give her energy is to give her a few drops of honey on her gums. The sugar goes into her system very easily that way.

What is her name?

@foxden  There is another the thread about the kitten on the breed description forum. The kitten was supposed to be 8 weeks old but the vet says 5-6 weeks old. Also online advertisement for the kitten is the source; so not a breeder.

Hopefully that information will help on this thread with kitten health advice since those few weeks can make a difference this young in treatment and care.

How is Luna today? I hope she is eating well for you.

It may take two or three days for the diarrhea to go away. Keep feeding her, and help her keep clean with a warm, damp cloth

Please let us know how she is doing and if you have any questions

Poor kitty! How is she doing?

Our vet gave us some canned Hills Science Diet Urgent Care when our cat wasn't eating. It's high in calories and apparently cats love it. He said to add enough water to make it into a slurry and warm it a little. Maybe you can get her to eat a little of that to get calories and liquids in her. I hope she recovers quickly!

Hi just an update Luna is 100% a ragdoll managed to track down the actual breeders and she had both the parent both beautiful ragdolls .. the person I picked her up from wasn't feeding her right etc so not sure if that the reason why she was very big! She is 10 weeks on Saturday, still having diarreha but eating well waiting for a sample of her stoll to come back from lab to vets and see what's going on with her! Thanks Jasmin
