My cat was seen by the vet back several weeks ago confirmed her pregnancy. He said she was about 50 days pregnant. Well took her in on last wensday and was told she is very near term give her a few more days. Last wensday would have been estimate 66 days pregnant. Now here it is tomorrow a week later and still no kittens. She is normal an outside cat( only nine months old) so put here in safe area indoors last week with lots of nesting boxes . She is still eating normally not very active just keeps sleeping all over the place. No discharge only saw small drop of milk from tears. So wants me to pet her and rub belly no nesting at all. Already took her in last week and they just tell me her dates may be off and she is close but wait a few more days. Any advice???? I'm now this confused stressed cat mom lol

As long as your cat is in no distress just wait it out. Her body will go into labor when it's time. It's hard for a vet to know exactly when a cat is due, even with an x-ray. This is especially true when no one is sure when a cat mated.

For instance, I took in a pregnant stray a couple of years ago. An x-ray was done, revealing 4 kittens. Vet said 7-10 days, yet it was 12 days later that she gave birth.

Additionally, milk can come in up to a week before giving birth.

I totally understand your anxiety. It's normal. Try to relax and let nature take it's course. She'll let you know when she goes into labor soon! [emoji]128571[/emoji]

Yep trying to stay relaxed. Her kittens are moving all over the place. She seems restless all day today just changing spots to stretch out. Took this picture last week before putting her in safe place.

I am right here with ya! I took in a pregnant stray a few weeks ago thinking she was close- we went to the vet last week and they said soon! But I am so impatient!

We just got back from the vet since it's been a week from last visit. He said he body is just not telling her what to do so he gave her an injection to make her start dialating and if that does not work by Friday morning he wants her to come back in for injection of oxitocin and c section if that doesn't work. Said the kittens are getting too big. Anybody else had luck with injections?

How does your vet know the kittens are "too big"?

What was the shot the vet gave your cat today?

Oxytocin will frequently cause labor to start. However, did the vet perform an x-ray or ultrasound to see how many kittens and exactly how far they have developed?

Do you know exactly when she conceived?

I am concerned that the vet's date estimates may be off. A scan is the best way to know. Otherwise, taking the kittens prematurely may kill them.

It is highly unusual for a cat to show zero signs of labor even if she does need a c-section. I would advise a second opinion at a different vet office.

I'm extremely worried that the bubs won't be viable now :(

I definitely would be worried about her having them too soon, I just had a mom who had her kits premature and a couple of them passed because they were too small and weak to suckle. Any signs of labor? Did your vet do any x-rays?

They gave her a shot starting with dex but I can't remember. She is only nine months old and Very small normally only five pounds. Yesterday weighed her and she is almost nine pounds. They measured crown to rump length and her babies a big to the point they are concerned to big to come out but giving her a chance. She is still the same after the shot but he said it normally takes about 30 hours to kick in so by tonight.

Have they performed any type of scan to determine number of kittens and what stage of development? This would seem necessary under the circumstances.

Depending on what they find on the scan, they could go straight to surgery instead of putting your cat through a potentially failed labor and delivery process.
