Hi
It's autumn/fall in my part of the world and my cat has started sneezing again. He did this last year around this time.
I had him checked over by the vet last year and there was no sign of a cold or any underlying problems. There is no obvious nasal discharge or watery eyes and he doesn't seem overly bothered by it. The vet prescribed some over-the-counter hayfever pills for humans (at a lower dose) but said that, like people, some hayfever pills work better than others and it's a bit trial and error. The pills didn't make any noticeable difference.
He stopped sneezing last year after a couple of months but has just recently started up again. It's always mornings. Nothing says "good morning" like a cat sneezing at you repeatedly at 5:45am!
Because it seems to be seasonal, it would suggest that it's maybe related to something environmental. But we've actually moved house since and have very few of the same types of plants around. This new house is colder - and mornings are getting cooler- but our old house was centrally heated so didn't suffer the same cold mornings.
I'm at a real loss as to what to do. Any suggestions from you wise people? As I said, it doesn't seem to bother him but I do feel sorry for him. And my husband is threatening to evict him from the bedroom if he keeps sneezing us awake so early... Any advice (beyond divorce)?
