My kitty (2.5 years old) has an injection site sarcoma. We saw a few different vets and I decided that the surgery, chemo, and radiation treatments had too high a risk for the tumor to come back to go ahead with the costly ($8,000, a lot for a poor college student) and painful procedures.

So my cat now Kitty is on Palladia which is a drug that has been minimally studied but in some cases has shown to slow tumor growth. Hopefully this will give her a little bit of time.

I have been reading many studies of ISS and they don't say what happens as the tumor goes untreated and how will affects Kitty's body. So I am looking to find out how this tumor will progress. My vet says it will get larger (duh) and become an open sore. I know that eventually I will have to put her down but I want to know what the signs leading up to this are.

Thanks for your help and information!

If the growth is on a leg you can ask about removing the leg. It is financially less and will remove the sarcoma so it can't spread to the rest of her body. Cats do just fine with three legs; assuming of course the injection was in the common leg region.

How did this cat do? Update?
It is difficult to find information on all this. I read the recent veterinarian articles and it seems its all hit or miss other than the logical total removal of tumor with 2 inch margins all around, something difficult to achieve depending on tumor and cat size. very sad.
