I  volunteer at a no-kill animal shelter on Tuesday evenings. I find it to be rewarding, and each cat has their own personality. These are the cats currently at the shelter.

Alex is a sweet senior cat looking for a furever home.

Brady is very friendly and likes attention, but will complain if you pick him up.  He prefers to be on his feet bumping up against you or sitting in your lap being petted.  Likes to climb.

Cuddles is sweet, but skittish. She will let you rub her chin.

Emma is a feral cat who is adjusting to being around humans.

Furnando is FIV+, but is a sweet cat nonetheless

Gilbert is more laid back, but sweet

Izzy is a friendly, affectionate cat.  Izzy likes to walk around when no one else is around;sweet cat;tells you when she wants out

Jewel is easygoing and sweet.  -friendly;not sure how she is with other cats;seems to like being out on her own.

Kori is a male cat looking for love

Lucy Lou is currently in foster care.  She is available for adoption.

Maxine may be on the heavy side, but is friendly nonetheless. Was recently adopted.

Nat King Cole is  special needs.  He needs to be your only cat or housed with another FIV or FELV positive kitty.  He is about six years old and he gets along with other cats.

Porsche-seems sweet and friendly;easy to pick up but nervous on the floor

Shannon was found as a stray.  We can't help but think she resembles a bob cat.  She is just so uniquely colored and marked!Shannon will make a wonderful companion to the right person(s).  We feel she is the type of cat to hide under the bed until she feels comfortable enough to be social with her new family.  A quiet home, with not a lot of comings and goings would be preferred.  Shannon will most likely hide when guests are visit the home.  A home with other cats would be ok.  Dogs and older children would be considered on a case by case situation. With time and patience, love and play, Shannon will blossom into the loving, sweetheart we know she is!

Sprinkles has turned into a great cat. She is friendly and likes people and attention now. She is ok on the floor with other cats again as long as they respect her space. It has taken her a long time to adjust to the shelter.

Sylvia is a sweet cat, a little needy, likes company and attention.  Likes to be held.  Likes to climb.  Ignores other cats.

Velvetine is a beautiful black cat with a sweet purrsonality. She is affectionate and loves to give head bonks. She also has a great purr motor.

Like Emma, Voodoo is a feral who is still adjusting to humans.

I will update this thread either to talk about my day at the shelter, adoption announcements, and more cats as we get them.

It's always a shame to see how many wonderful potential pets are winding up in shelters. No-kill shelters are so incredibly important, and they would not be possible without volunteers like you. I don't know any of these kitties purrsonaly, but I still fall in love with them as I glance at their pictures. Thank you for helping ensure that these kitties can find the purrfect family to live out happy lives. :)

She seems like a cheeky wee chubster! I'm glad she got adopted.
Such a shame that there are so many cats in need of good homes.
I'm glad she did too. One of the perks of working at an animal shelter is interacting with the cats so they can be adoptable. And while I do agree with the fact that there are many homeless cats, our shelter is no-kill for the most part; sometimes a cat has to be euthanized due to a severe illness.

Jennifurr, that's great you do this. We have no shelter in town though there are a million stray cats. I financially support the nearest shelter, which is on the other side of the Connecticut River. I do not drive and, unfortunately, it is a very long bus ride to get there so I do not volunteer there.

Hi, everyone, sorry for the long wait, the website thinks I am a bot because of my numerous posts

So what happened since Monday? Well, Gilbert and Cuddles got adopted, and Alex has to be taken into foster care, because he was uncomfortable in the shelter environment.

Also, I would like to introduce you to two more cats. Albert (top) and Anna are feral kittens with a tight-knit bond. Although Albert is the more social of the two, it will take a while for Anna to warm up to humans

Hooray, Sylvia and Kori got adopted too. It's such a good feeling when a cat gets adopted.

Found some new cats at the shelter

Don't let the name fool you, Picasso is actually female. She loves to be petted.

Sebo is a sweet cat who loves to be brushed

Summer is sweet cat. You may notice that she has an ear infection, but since I don't go until tomorrow, I won't find out until then. Otherwise, she has a personality of an angel.

We also have Derek, who is good with other cats

One more piece of good news: Emma and Voodoo are adopted. I am happy they were adopted together, because they are tight-knit ferals, and only had each other.

And here are some more cats...

Anastasia, an adult female tabby

Austin Leroy, a longhaired male who loves to be brushed

Heathcliff, a senior black cat

Jetta, another male senior

Panther, a female black cat

As I said before, I will post information about my shifts at my animal shelter. I will tell you all about it either tonight or tomorrow.

Some cats got adopted today. Anastasia, Jewel, ans Sebo all went to their new homes.

Carter is a newcomer. He is less than a year old and full of cuddles.

One particular thing about Heathcliffe is that he has three legs. He tries to get around as much as he could.

Velvetine enjoying tap water.

Austin Leroy and Jetta have a tight bond that they must be adopted together.

Some more info about Izzy:

Izzy is a 10 year old bundle of sweetness available for adoption! She is a very laid back girl, who prefers to snuggle all day over play. Sweet Izzy loves getting her ears scratched and being brushed.

Is the poor little guy - Heathcliffe - still there with his 3 legs?
He sure is! Just because he is a three-legged cat, it doesn't really stop him from playing and having fun (he wiggles on the floor playing with toys) He does need a small stepping stool to get back in his cage, though, but is a very healthy cat nonetheless.

Speaking of which, he just got adopted tonight, as did Sprinkles!
