Dear Yoviher,

Have you ever actually met a redneck? Have you ever spent anytime with them? I live in one of the redneck capitals of the world, they are not all that bad, once you get to know them. (Ok, maybe I need to retreat.)

Hmm, retreat might be good, or join me in a reality check here,......I live in Alabama (go ahead, laugh), 'cause I think it was ment in pure fun, not sarcasam or meanness. At least he used the material of a true Southern redneck, Jeff Foxworthy, instead of a Hollywood prototype of one of us. And as Mr. Foxworthy defines it, being a redneck is something that can classify anyone at any given time. Now, 'scuse me, I've got to dry my eyes 'cause I just heard Dolly Parton sing "I Will Always Love You" and wash the Cool Whip salad bowls that me and the young-uns used for our spam and turnip greens.

Actually, y'all, I am a redneck - and proud of it
! I accepted the fact many years ago. I am a dixie girl too! If anyone really is interested or has any questions, let me know
. But don't judge me by that list, not all of those sayings apply to me, but I do love reading them - they are so funny!

Jeff Foxworthy defines a Redneck as "A glorious lack of sophistication." I know I fall into that category at least part of the time! LOL

(BTW, if you ever get a chance to see him - do it. You won't be disappointed. And if you haven't had a chance to see the Blue Collar Comedy Tour movie, do that too. It's hilarious! I was lucky enough to see the actual tour when they came to Denver, and I don't think I've ever laughed so hard in my life!)

I guess I must be a redneck then....
Because I DO use scissors on food...I even have a pair of what I call "cooking shears" in the drawer....they are only used for food...nothing else, and you can't beat em' for cutting pizza slices! (seriously) AND....I HAVE reused a paper plate...if it's only been used for potato chips or something like that, I'll use it again to put something else on...big deal. And we may not have any stuffed possums in the house...but we do have a stuffed fox, badger, cinnamon coon, black squirrel, weasel, mink, albino beaver, and bobcat. And I DO think my hubby may have called out the name of one of the coons he has killed in bed...

All in all I did find it funny...I love Jeff Foxworthy...but yet...I do fit a few of those catagories, and I think Rednecks are very nice people!!!
But it was very funny! Thanks for sharing it with us!

"You think the last words to the Star Spangled Banner are "Play Ball..." '

EVERYBODY knows that the last four words to "The Star-Spangled Banner" are "GENTLEMEN, START YOUR ENGINES!"

I HAVE (inadvertently) worn a tube top, to a wedding. There was a wedding going on, in a bar when I walked in.

One more little tidbit: if you have ever worn a dress that is strapless, with a bra that isn't, you just might be a redneck.

North Mississippi, just far enough away from MELVI
Remember Girls Raised In The Souths have GRITS. Get it GRITS (G-irls R-aised I-n T-he S-outh) Anyway I love grits and I am a southern Belle and my grandmothers names was Clarabelle and she told me that was the name of a cow and she hated it
. I love the name and have claimed it. There are some rednecks that you do not want to be near and you know it when you see them. My sister was married to one and we tease her about it to this day
.
I hope to someday see Jeff Foxworthy, because being from the south and living so close to being a Redneck and seeing these people everyday would be a hoot.

Thanks, Heidi, I couldn't for the life of me remember the exact wording he used last night, and didn't take time to go back and pick up one of his books to see!

Puerto Rico... land of rice and beans.
I saw him myself! That's where I got the idea of searching the internet for redneck jokes and realized entire encyclopedias had been written on it. I was rolling on the floor laughing.

Anyway, what I have heard is this: They are friendly and amiable, unlike New York or San Francisco where you have to freak out if a stranger speaks to you. Just don't speak about politics (PR is liberal country).

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
I use scissors on my food! They're great for lettuce, chicken, pizza, shrimp salad...

I'm a "step-redneck" I guess. I was born and raised up north, but my folks and my sister have all moved South. My sister has lived in Birmingham long enough she's developing a bit of a "drawl". My parents have lived in Brunswick, GA for 10 years now.

LOL. I've got an uncle named after Robert E. Lee, and our car hasn't been washed in about 3 years (believe it or not, when I got home this afternoon I found the car in the driveway instead of the garage - it was pouring, and my husband decided the car needed a "shower"). Do rednecks have to be Southern? A lot of those could equally apply to people we always referred to as "townies", i.e., the "natives" living in the towns closest to state colleges in PA, or year round in or near NJ vacation resorts.

Dear Rednecks,

I grew up with rednecks. Sometime you drive me up the wall with your stupidity, but I still love you. Sometimes it just takes two by four to get your attention.
