Hello!

My cat Ollie was recently diagnosed with FLUTD, struvite crystals, and cystitis. I spent around $3000 this month trying to keep him alive and get him on a good diet.

I've tried to feed him both the Hills and Royal Canin Urinary food, but he refuses to eat it. The only reason he ate it at the vets office is because they had him drugged up on Valium.

He really loved his dry food, but we've cut that out of his diet altogether. And he was eating Fancy Feast every morning for breakfast. Our vets never really explained what ingredients were in the prescription foods that are supposed to help Ollie, and looking at the ingredients on FF cans versus Canin or Hills, they dont seem much different to me.

When I put Fancy Feast in front of him, he eats it, but if I mix the FF with Canin or Hills, he walks away from his food immediately.

Any advice would be helpful, thank you!

:)

There's this https://www.chewy.com/purina-pro-plan-veterinary-diets-ur/dp/49837
I've heard around the boards that they use this for their cats as well.

But because of costs, many I've seen have also used this https://www.chewy.com/purina-pro-plan-focus-adult-classic/dp/121429

My bubba has FLUTD and as soon as he got crystals and blocked I dropped him off dry that day and put him on canned and eventually onto a raw diet.
His pH went from an 8 the first time he blocked to a 7 the next time he blocked, and they couldn't tell me why that time. They sent him home and less than 24 later I had him there again because his bladder was hemorrhaging and blocking him up. We put him through the PU surgery they do on males. I started adding Cranberry Relief to his food using the directions on the container.

There's debate about cosequin helping keep the bladder walks calm and bring down inflammation, but it's going to depend on who you ask. I have some that my old cranky cat wouldn't take, so I can start giving it to my bub Tommy if I wanted. Friday was 1 mo since his surgery.
