I've had my cat for two months. She had a litter box issue (not using it) this morning, which I posted about elsewhere. Then she hopped up and was messing with my aloe plant (she does this on occasion, but I've never seen her actually eat it). I went into my bedroom a little bit later and saw that she had vomited all over. There was undigested kibble in a big pool, and then two smaller streaks of just liquid vomit. I didn't even hear her vomit, which is strange, since she was only in the next room and my house is completely quiet.

My first reaction was - I've been transitioning her from Purina One Indoor Advantage to Simply Nourish Grain-Free over the past few weeks, and when I fed her last night, I only put in a little bit of the Purina, so maybe she's having trouble with the Grain-Free food. But now I'm wondering if maybe it's the aloe plant...?

When I went in my room, she was also eating the wet food I had given her this morning and she had refused. She gobbled that all up. I put Resolve on her vomit stains and have her shut out of the bedroom now. She has access to water, but no food.

What do you think this is, and how do I move forward?! She seems normal now - playing, and obviously she ate so she seems to be feeling better... I've never experienced a vomiting cat before, so I'm not sure what to look out for and how to help her get better.

If the aloe plant was involved, I'd expect that you'd see bits of green in the vomit as well as physical chewing on the aloe plant itself.  Even if there is no physical evidence, however, the aloe might still be involved.  Aloes are toxic to cats.  The fact that she uncharacteristically vomited and now seems to feel better does indicate that she ate something that disagreed with her.  Keep a close eye on her for the next 24 hours.  If she continues to vomit, take her to the vet as she might have a more severe case of poisoning than presently appears to be the case.

Since you have been transitioning her to the new kibble over a few weeks, last night's combination is probably not the culprit.  There's an easy way to find out:  repeat the process tonight.  Hopefully, all will go well.

Cats do occasionally vomit for reasons that are not clear to us.  It's when they do it regularly that they need to see the vet.

I think you've done about as much as you can do at this point.  Just keep an eye on her.  If you think she's still feeling poorly, you might try baking or boiling some chicken (no spices),  preparing some rice, mashing everything up and offering it to her.  That might settle her tummy down.

Best of luck!  I hope she's fully recovered.

Thanks so much! She hasn't been sick again, even though she scarfed down all of her wet food after vomiting [emoji]128551[/emoji] She was a little playful immediately after, but has just been lounging around since. I'll continue to keep an eye on her, and maybe I'll buy some chicken for her tonight to make a nice little dinner [emoji]128522[/emoji]

I think I just replied to another post of yours... you have the girl that eats a cup of dry food a day, yes? Could be just the amount or some oddball other reason. I still remember Oliver puking for the first time, he looked absolutely shocked when it happened!
