When did my cats stop being cats?

I have three cats.

About 4 hours ago I dug the new slow cooker out of its box.  I left the box in the middle of the floor on its side.

Now?  In the same room as the box, one cat is sleeping in a chair, one cat is sleeping on the couch, and one cat is sleeping on the cat tree.  The box is empty.

It's not like they haven't moved in four hours.  When I put the box there, there was only one cat in the room and she was wide awake and fussing at me.  She ignored the box on the floor and the other two walked right by it to get to their sleeping spots.

(Btw, am I the only senior kitty owner who watches a sleeping cat until I see the fur on their side move to indicate breathing?  I'm really worried that they will pass in their sleep and I won't know it.)

Are they all seniors? Seniors can be less curious and playful, especially if they have health or mobility issues. Also not all cats go in boxes. Lots do but I've had some that don't. If it's a major change for your particular cats and they're not acting right, you could always get them checked out. One rest would be to put catnip in there and see if that makes them more enthusiastic.

I was being facetious.
My cats have never been much for boxes, though Midway loves shredding them and biting chunks out of them.
