Hello, I have two cats which are from the sheltor. One is about 10m (fixed male) and the other is 7m (fixed female).

I have changed their diet to wet food for 2 weeks. However, both have terrible diarrhea everyday.

I used to feed them Friskies meaty chicken in gravy with little dry food mixture. At that time, they never had diarrhea(sometimes watery, but not just like water).

Now,I am feeding Fancy Feast kitten turkey. Actually, I had tried many other kinds of canned food such as sheba beef, chicken pate entree, FF classic turkey, and chicken.

I cannot afford high quility cat food right now. However, I don't want feed them bad food.

What should I do? I need to stop changing their food. Do I need to go back to Friskies? Please recommend dry food and canned food for my cats.

Thank you.

Hi there Archerboo, in my country it's a must that when you get them to a vet within the first week or two to get their health checked. You can take both in at once so the cost isn't so bad. If you can't afford it this guide may assist:

No Money For Vet Care?

You do need to stop changing their food, the best thing you could do is find out what they were feeding the cats at the shelter and feed that to them for a week at least until they are settled and not suffering diarrhea. Then you need to gradually mix the food you wish to replace it with into the bowl with the old. you need to do it over a period of seven to 10 days.

I'm not American and I'm assuming you are but I have read that certain varieties of Friskies and Sheba are indeed very good cheap foods.

Affordable food is a common question here, here's a thread that my help you.  And I've heard that Chewys is a very cheap online store for cat food.

If your kittens have had diarrhea for 2 weeks, they are probably not in very good shape. Friskies is not a terrible food, and I think you should see if they will eat that.

Friskies pate foods are ok. I feed these to my cats regularly. Fancy feast classics are supposed to be better, but end up being twice the cost.

Right now, the kittens could be dehydrated. Try one of the stinkiest pate foods you have and add pedialyte to make it soupy. Wet your finger with it and see if the kitten will lick it and get interested in that food.

If you can't get pedialyte, this link has a homemade recipe that you can use temporarily. https://www.mamanatural.com/natural-pedialyte-recipe/

Pedialyte is important to get fluid in and balance the electrolytes in their systems. After a lot of diarrhea, they really need this additive.

I think you should take them to a vet, or call the shelter to see if they have any other advice
