My new fur baby nearly 6 weeks old. I have only had him for 2 days. I'm worried he is deaf. Nothing startled him. I googled it and did la heap of tests. He does wake-up when I open his door . But the dog barking and I pitched noises don't bother him. They said that kittens don't like the vaccum. So I tried that and he did shy away from it. But still unsure. Any help would be great

Is your cat white and blue eyed? A high amount of those kind of colored cats are deaf.

Have you tried shaking things behind his back to see if you get a reaction? A jar of coins or snapping fingers?

Some cats are just not as reactive to noise.  If still getting no reaction he'd need to see a vet to assess the problem. I could be as easy as having an ear infection which needs treating.

6 weeks is quite young to be away from his mom already.  Can you give a little more background to how you got him? Has he already been to see a vet?

Wait until he is asleep. then make a loud noise near his head, like jiggling keys as an example, avoiding noises that cause vibrations he could feel.  If he wakes up he isn't deaf.  If he is deaf, don't worry, i had a deaf cat and she was fine, you just can't call them with your voice, and they never be allowed outside unsupervised.
