Has anyone heard of or has ordered from this company? http://www.simplyrawsomeus.com/category-s/101.htm There's a wide variety of raw meats and organs and bones, including organic options. I don't think the compnay grinds their own meat. One product is listed as "5lb 6oz unidentifiable ground organ" with a description of "ground organ not sure what kind or from what animal".

Where do you think?
Never heard of it but I stay away from mystery meat as a general rule. I've heard that "meat" is a generic term that can mean anything from beef to horse meat.

Very bizarre. I wouldn't even order the meat that is identified from a company that has other products they won't specify. Shame on them, looks shady, definitely would avoid.

I took a look at the website.  While they do sell adequately identified human grade meat products, their focus is on selling very low cost products.  This include denatured meat from down animals, i.e. meat from "4D" animals that is treated with a liquid charcoal dye.  They have a few mystery packages but most items are reasonably identified.  I guess it makes sense if you live locally and need low cost raw, but the shipping costs are too high otherwise.

Chances are, the denatured products they sell are what you find in canned or dry commercial cat food.  I also would bet that most commercial raw foods are also made from denatured 4D meats.  The only companies I can find that claim use of human grade meats are Primal and Honest Kitchen.  The other companies (Nature Variety, Rad Cat, etc) all use artful phrases on their websites like "meats from USDA-approved facilities" and "organic ingredients", but do not state their products are human-grade.  Perhaps denatured meats are OK, but I'm really glad I have other options like Hare Today.

Sophie, as you know, earlier today I agreed with you. I went to the Hare-Today site, unless I missed it, all HT says is anti -biotic & hormone free, inspected by the department of agriculture. I did not see the phrase human grade .

Rad Cat says it is certified Organic and free-range.I order a ton of HT and periodically use RC.I always thought RC was good, my cats have loved it but, I prefer to make their food.Still, RC comes in handy when I forget to thaw,. I just read they are coming out with Pork.

I think we are safe using both HT and RC. If you think about it , all the meat we eat is human grade and we would get sick if we didn't cook it.

Hare Today isn't human grade, but it's not 4D/denatured - it's locally produced meats that aren't subjected to to the extensive procedures required for a "human grade" or "organic" label.  Which is why they're relatively inexpensive.  Rad Cat is high quality stuff.  I was surprised they didn't mention "human grade" on their website, but maybe they are similar to Hare Today in how they source meats.

Glad to hear about Feline Natural - definitely add to the list!

She's a reseller for a lot of companies, like the denatured meat beef is likely from Dans trucking in Winona, MN. I've got an order in currently for a few cases of duck bone-in for my allergy dog as I can't get it locally, it's a legit business that sells mostly to dog owners around the twin cities but ships anywhere. Human grade isn't a term even used or defined by AAFCO fwiw.
