Hi there,

I wonder if anyone here can help me to identify the breed of my cat. I rescued her a few months ago and was told she is a 3.5 year old Himalayan/DLH mix. Having taken her to the vet for a checkup, he believes she is more like 6 years old based on her dental health which has got me wondering about the accuracy of her breed too.

She does seem to share more of the physical attributes to a seal point lynx Ragdoll (according to internet searches!) and does not seem to require much brushing, however she seems to share none of the temperament. She is very playful, lots of energy, always trying to slip outside, and would hiss and swipe at a friendly and calm dog that lived with us for 10 days if it got too close. She hates being picked up or belly rubs and although she is extremely affectionate, she refuses to sit on your lap (she will always sit near you though!!) She is also very small for a Ragdoll at only 9.5lbs.

Or perhaps even a Himalayan/Ragdoll mix?!

Thank you very much!!!

Mixes are difficult, your assessments are OK.  Although as long we dont know for sure, she is to count as a longhaired domestic.

I dont think she is seal, sooner blue or perhaps mink as the most.  Being seal she would be darker in the body, as she is adult almost senior.  Also, being a lynx = tabby, she darkens up in the body, but the tabby  stripes on the body arent visible because of the long fur.  Also, put in the and white in her description.  You may even say bi-color...   (bi-color hints "and white").

So, assuming she is a blue point, it will be:  Longhair domestic,  blue lynx point and white, or blue lynx point bi-color.

Thanks for your assessment StefanZ, the only other thing to point out (which you can't really see from pictures) is that she does have the piercing big blue eyes of a Ragdoll or Himalayan. But I suppose this could be coincidence or perhaps she has some ancestry somewhere down the line.

Being a point she "should" have blue eyes.  Even if not all domestic points has good blue color.

And let me say, she is verry beautiful,  whatever her exact ancestry.  A cat to be proud of.
