just got my 7 month old female kitty spayed...

I wonder if this stiches look ok, as they are made sort of tucked in, like belly button... hmmm

Is this normal?

Thanks!

I only have experience with female dogs...but this just doesn't look normal. I know that my vet doesn't charge if I have to take my animals in for a follow up based on concerns that arise from a previous appointment. (follow-up to surgery, vaccine tenderness etc.) I would call them and ask just to be safe. But the people on here are very experienced and may have some better advice for you.

That just naturally happens when she's a zaftig young lady ;). The stitches are in the muscle tissue so if she's a little chubby the chub just kind of covers it. It looks good. No redness or swelling.

Ahhh I see :) thanks!

Yes we give her plenty of food :) I heard kittens until 1yr should have free unlimited food access

and I guess she's leveraging that offer well ))

Most kittens have high activity levels to offset the calorie intake. Are you feeding wet or dry food?

Wet food is more filling for cats and is less calorie dense than dry food.
There's a lot of information on the food and nutrition forum that can help you pick a better diet for your kitten.

My kittens get wet food twice daily and we free feed dry.

Since I learned wet food is better for most cats compared to dry food, I've been increasing the wet food by adding small wet food snacks during the day. Fancy feast pate flavors (classic) and Sheba pate are both considered to be decent wet foods. I feed Friskies pate flavors, which are apparently not the best, but the cats like them.

We rotate flavors of wet food regularly. Feeding only one flavor can be a problem if that recipe is discontinued or changed, and some cats then have problems with different foods. Again, I've learned a lot on the nutrition forums.

Both of my kittens are very active. One is just over a year old, and one is approximately 10 months old. I don't see any signs of a weight problem with my cats.

She has free access to dry food, and wet food twice a day.

we rotate wet food all the time.

She's not that fat if you look not just at belly, but I guess as single kitten at home she's not running enough...

I don't know if those exercise wheels for cats work..maybe I should get one for her

Wand-type toys work well to get the kitty chasing around the room.

The only reason I'm mentioning this at all is that it is far easier to get the kitty active while she's young so that you can prevent weight- related issues as she grows up.

I don't think anyone suggests putting kittens on a diet. You can inspire her with more active play with a wand or a laser pointer

Sorry for more messages, but as its our first kitten, and we love her dearly we're very worried about her.

Here is day 2 of her healing, it doesn't like it got better, but actually got more red... should we worry?

We took down her cat tree so that she doesn't climb it, but we cant confine her to walking only,

as shes bored and trying to jump on anything chairs, drawers .

We had to let her run around apartment so at least she climbs smaller things successfully ((

Might help to keep her confined in a room like a bathroom where she doesn't have a lot of space to run around or jump. Just for the first few days.
Second day after a surgery, I wouldn't get too worried about the slight redness, but keep an eye on it.
Beautiful kitty, btw!
