My partner does maybe two loads of washing during the week, we both do a load together on the weekend. Cold wash only. We don't own a dryer so we hang them on lines on the balcony. When it rains it dries inside which is a gigantic pain because our flat is so small. I hate dodging washing.

Oh, I should have added I only use warm wash, cold rinse. I wasn't satisfied with the results of the cold wash. A plumber told me that the tap water here is extra cold (he was explaining why he doesn't recommend tankless water heaters) so maybe that's why. About once a year I'll collect all the white towels and socks, and run them in a hot wash with bleach, but not normally.

OK, ya'll don't laugh, or think I go around smelly all the time.  Two loads.  One of sheets and towels, and just one of clothes.  I just don't have a big wardrobe.  And since I don't do much, I don't get stuff very dirty.  I average 5 shirts, 2 pair of jeans and a skirt a week, plus meh drawers.  I don't wear a bra unless I'm am going somewhere, and that's only once a month, most months.  I do like the pods, though, mainly because I can take just two of them to the laundry room with me.  The less I have to lug on the walker, the better off I am.

i'm pretty sure it works out to 1 load of laundry per week here, occasionally two. i just add dirty clothes/towels to the washer until it gets full, then run it. new washer and dryer are most excellent! they're stacked, front loaders, because they had to be to fit into the space in my bathroom. they're large capacity, so bigger loads mean needing to run them less often and use less water overall.
When my sister did her bathroom over, they got a stacked washer/dryer unit and put it in the bathroom. It's in some kind of tray and there are pipes going outside somehow, so that if the washer were to flood, it won't make a mess in her bathroom. She has a huge house, three floors, and her old washer and dryer were in the basement. She says having the unit in the bathroom is a real time-saver for her. She loves it.

I wash 4-5 loads a week. it depends on if it is summer and we get dirtier working outside or are working on a project house. in the summer I change twice a day, I have more dirt on me then a potted plant. I use Gain detergent and softener, whenever I am tempted to change someone, especially my daughter will say, "what detergent do you use, your towels always smell so good!" I have front load pedestal machines, and after getting use to how much LESS water they use,
I found they clean very good, I thought something was wrong with it when I first got it. In the summer time I hang T-shirts outside, which we have a lot of, oh and of course sheets. No jeans or underwear, too stiff! I might pre dry the jeans a little outside but soften them in the dryer.  Once in a while I have to throw the T-shirts in the dryer too, to remove the cat hair!

Two loads a week, one cat and one human stuff. I go to the local coin laundry where they have those huge washer~driers. Nothing would ever dry here, I'd just be hanging it out to freeze.

When I was very small, back when spanking was perfectly acceptable, and expected,  we lived in Alaska.  One winter day, some of my friends and I soaked some of our moms' towels, hung them on the line till they froze hard, then whacked them with hammers to watch them shatter.  BOY did I have a burning fanny!

yes! i've heard about those drain pans for when the washer floods. a great thing to have!

my old washer was in the bathroom, but the old dryer was in the (unheated) back enclosed porch. so i'd have to move the wet laundry from the washer to the dryer, which was a real pain...and quite cold during the winter months. i even once fractured my big toe while moving wet laundry to the dryer, going down the steps in the back enclosed porch. anyway, i've always found that having the washer in the bathroom is perfect. i just strip off my dirty clothes, and in they go into the washer, then i jump in the shower to get cleaned up.

Now that's something I would have done!

And that's why I don't hang to dry outside..we don't like stiff yucky clothes..i try to use the delicate setting on the dryer but it still uses too much heat...

oh Mamany I am just chuckling at this...when I was oh 7? we had this idea to get the babypowder and take it outside-there were puddles on the street behind our house..we put the baby powder on our feet and made foot prints all over the pavement...yeah my dad spanked me...to this day I don't dare touch anything in his house...of course he's not like that anymore but somehow I still remember that butt warming and no I didn't deserve it. At least I didn't think it was a big deal. no one ever used it.mom had a bad habit of buying things on sale and never using it...lol.

:yeah: I go through way more clothes in the summer, but they are probably smaller (T-shirts vs sweatshirts), so maybe it all pans out. I would roudn it out to 4 loads or so a week.

I use Tide free and clear or All free and clear.

There's no spot in our bedroom to put a washer/dryer. It is a pain having them in the basement, but at least I don't have to look at them every day & think of laundry.

I think i win for most loads per week. I can't be the only one with kids who answered!?  I also didn't count the load of uniforms my DH does himself!

I've got this idea in my head. If we ever get a house with a basement laundry room I'd want a dumb-waiter put in so I can use that to move stuff between floors.  My Aunt has a split-level and the laundry room is right below the bathroom. They have a laundry chute under the sink inside the cabinet.  I thought tossing stuff down for her was just super fun.
But she still has to carry everything back up.

Yes, laundry chutes are fun. Our set-up is a bit of a pain since most stuff has to be carried upstairs to the bedrooms from the basement.

I do a load or so a week for myself.  Cold water, Zum laundry soap--love the scents.  I don't go through that many clothes or get them that dirty.  Every couple of weeks, I'll do a load of other household and/or cat things.

DH does his own laundry, probably 2 loads a week.

I do two loads; one with warm water, the other with cold water. I normally use Tide as a detergent, and add vinegar with my load. For drying clothes, I used softening balls to help get the job done better.
